2. First principles modeling of soft X-ray spectroscopy of complex systems
Abstract : The electronic structures of complex systems have been studied by theoretical calculations of soft x-ray spectroscopies like x-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, near edge x-ray absorption fine structure, and x-ray emission spectroscopies. A new approach based on time dependent density functional theory has been developed for the calculation of shake-up satellites associated with photoelectron spectra. READ MORE

3. Dynamics of optical and X-ray responses of molecules
Abstract : The aim of this licentiatethesis is to investigate by means of theoretical simulationsthe dynamics of light scattering by molecules, with specialemphasis on molecules in gas phase and in solutions. The first part of the thesisconcerns the two-photon absorption (TPA) process in the opticalwavelength region. 4. Quantum mechanical studies of ionization and electron transfer in diatomic systems : O2 and H+ + H-
Abstract : The present thesis is based upon two papers concerning the core-valence double onization of molecular oxygen and mutual neutralization of H+ and H- ions at low collision energies. The former of these processes has been studied for the first time using a magnetic bottle time-of-ight electron coincidence spectrometer in combination with ab initio electronic structure calculations. 5. Gas phase molecular relaxation probed by synchrotron radiation experiments
Abstract : This thesis presents experimental studies of gas phasemolecular relaxation after excitation with synchrotron photonsin the 15-35 eV and in the 70-350 eV regions. In the 15-35 eV region, molecular relaxation by neutraldissociation processes and nonFranck-Condon effects in N2 and O2 molecules have beenstudied by means of dispersed fluorescence and photoelectronspectroscopy experimental techniques, respectively.
