  1. 11. Physical Properties of Rennet-Induced Skim Milk Gels

    Author : Kristina Lodaite; Livsmedelsteknik; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Food and drink technology; Livsmedelsteknik;

    Abstract : The aim of this work was to predict the effect of technological parameters on the physical processes of cheesemaking. To this end we developed and modified techniques with which to measure the physical properties of the curd, such as its permeability and its rheological properties. READ MORE

  2. 12. Physical properties and crystallization of theophylline co-crystals

    Author : Shuo Zhang; Åke Rasmuson; Per Svensson; Mårten Behm; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Theophylline; oxalic acid; glutaric acid; maleic acid; co-crystal; decomposition temperature; melting temperature; solubility; crystallization; Molecular transport processes in chemical process engineering; Molekylära transportprocesser i kemisk processteknik;

    Abstract : This work focuses on the physical properties and crystallization of theophyline co-crystals. Co-crystals of theophylline with oxalic acid, glutaric acid and maleic acid have been investigated. The DSC curves of these co-crystals show that their first endothermic peaks are all lower than the melting temperature of theophylline. READ MORE

  3. 13. Mechanical and physical properties of semi-isostatically densified wood

    Author : Jonas Blomberg; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Wood Technology; Träteknik;

    Abstract : When wood is densified through semi-isostatical compression in a Quintus- press at pressures up to 140 MPa, the material properties change. The cells are flattened, size is decreased and shape is changed, as a consequence of this the density is increased. Most properties of native woods are strongly correlated to the density. READ MORE

  4. 14. Extended impregnation kraft cooking of softwood : Effects on reject, yield, pulping uniformity, and physical properties

    Author : Katarina Karlström; Mikael E. Lindström; Elisabet Brännvall; Kristofer Gamstedt; Anna Jacobs; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; high kappa number pulp; extended impregnation; softwood; spruce; picea abies; pine; pinus sylvestris; uniform delignification; kappa number distribution; reject; yield; tensile index; tensile stiffness index; SCT; starch multilayers; mechano-sorptive creep; hygroexpansion; dimensional stability; eucalypt; birch; acacia; Cellulose and paper engineering; Cellulosa- och pappersteknik;

    Abstract : Converting wood into paper is a complex process involving many different stages, one of which is pulping. Pulping involves liberating the wood fibres from each other, which can be done either chemically or mechanically. READ MORE

  5. 15. Design of new materials with crystal structure-related properties : The role of lone pair cations

    Author : Eleni Mitoudi Vagourdi; Mats Johnsson; Vadim Kessler; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Crystal structure determination; New oxohalide compounds; Lone-pair electrons; X-ray diffraction; Physical properties; Inorganic Chemistry; oorganisk kemi;

    Abstract : Non-centrosymmetry and low-dimensional arrangements, e.g. chains or layers, are very attractive structural characteristics of crystalline compounds since they are linked to some physical properties including nonlinear optical activity, ferroelectricity and magnetic frustration.
