  1. 1. Ammonium Feedback Control in Wastewater Treatment Plants

    Author : Linda Åmand; Bengt Carlsson; Peter Vanrolleghem; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; aeration control; ammonium feedback control; biological nitrogen removal; full-scale experiments; gain scheduling control; PI control; process control; repetitive control; wastewater treatment; Elektroteknik med inriktning mot reglerteknik; Electrical Engineering with specialization in Automatic Control;

    Abstract : The aeration process is often the single largest consumer of electricity in a wastewater treatment plant. Aeration in biological reactors provides microorganisms with oxygen which is required to convert ammonium to nitrate. Ammonium is toxic for aqueous ecosystems and contributes to eutrophication. 2. 2. Averaging level control in the presence of frequent inlet flow upsets

    Author : Peter Rosander; Alf J. Isaksson; Johan Löfberg; Morten Hovd; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : Averaging level control; PI control; Surge tanks; Optimal control; Robust MPC; Process control;

    Abstract : Buffer tanks are widely used within the process industry to prevent flow variations from being directly propagated throughout a plant. The capacity of the tank is used to smoothly transfer inlet flow upsets to the outlet. Ideally, the tank thus works as a low pass filter where the available tank capacity limits the achievable flow smoothing. READ MORE

  3. 3. Design and Implementation of Resource-Aware Wireless Networked Control Systems

    Author : Jose Araujo; Karl Henrik Johansson; Anton Cervin; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Networked Control Systems; Event-triggered Control; Event-triggered PI; aperiodic control;

    Abstract : Networked control over wireless sensor and actuator systems is of growing importancein many application domains. Energy and communication bandwidth are scarce resources in such systems. READ MORE

  4. 4. Distributed control of electric drives via Ehernet

    Author : Lilantha Samaranayake; KTH; []
    Keywords : Brushless DC Motor; Control Delay; Distributed Motion Control Systems; Proportional Integral Controller;

    Abstract : This report presents the work carried out aiming towardsdistributed control of electric drives through a networkcommunication medium with temporal constraints, i.e, Ethernet.A general analysis on time delayed systems is carried out,using state space representation of systems in the discretetime domain. 5. 5. Multivariable control of a pneumatic conveying system

    Author : Wolfgang Birk; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Reglerteknik; Control Engineering;

    Abstract : This licentiate thesis deals with a multivariable controller of a pneumatic conveying system. The industrial process used to illustrate design, analysis and implementation of a multivariable controller is the injection of fine coal into a blast furnace. READ MORE
