1. Mixed connective tissue disease, myositis and systemic lupus erythematosus : immunological and genetic studies in three related rheumatic autoimmune studies
Abstract : Mixed connective tissue disease (MCTD), polymyositis (PM)/ dermatomyositis (DM) and systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) are chronic, rheumatic, systemic inflammatory disorders. The disorders depend on several factors of both genetic and environmental origin. READ MORE

2. Hand function, activity limitation and health-related quality of life in patients with polymyositis and dermatomyositis
Abstract : Background: Polymyositis (PM) and dermatomyositis (DM) are rare idiopathic inflammatory myopathies. Common clinical features are proximal muscle weakness and reduced muscle endurance, which can lead to activity limitation and reduced health-related quality of life (HRQoL). READ MORE

3. Physical exercise as a targeted therapy in idiopathic inflammatory myopathies
Abstract : Idiopathic inflammatory myopathies are comprised of polymyositis (PM) and dermatomyositis (DM) with muscle impairment being the primary clinical feature. With the currently recommended treatment regimen, a majority of patients develop sustained impaired muscle performance and poor health for undetermined reasons. READ MORE

4. Exercise and outcome measures in patients with polymyositis and dermatomyositis
Abstract : Polymyositis (PM) and dermatomyositis (DM) are chronic idiopathic inflammatory myopathies (IIM) which are clinically characterized by symmetrical proximal muscle weakness, fatigue, myalgia and extra- muscular involvement. Muscle impairment is the most significant feature of PM and DM with characteristic infiltrates of mononuclear inflammatory cells in muscle biopsies, elevated inflammatory parameters in serum and characteristic EMG changes, which separate these disorders from neurologic disorders and also fibromyalgia. 5. Immune mechanisms in chronic rheumatic muscle inflammation, myositis
Abstract : The idiopathic inflammatory myopathies (IIM), shortly named myositis, is a group of heterogeneous and rare autoimmune diseases with the target tissue of skeletal muscle. It is not curable and affects the daily life of patients. The treatment of myositis is mainly glucocorticoids in combination with immunosuppressive agents. READ MORE
