  1. 1. Contact fatigue and crack propagation studies of sintered PM steel

    Author : Anders Holmberg; Åsa Kassman Rudolphi; Urban Wiklund; Johan Ahlström; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Tribology; PM steel; Fatigue; Crack Initiation; Crack Propagation; Material Analysis; Teknisk fysik med inriktning mot tribomaterial; Engineering Science with specialization in Tribo Materials;

    Abstract : Gears made of PM steel are of interest for the automotive industry because from the press/sinter route, complex geometries can be produced to near net shape with only a few processing steps while keeping the material and energy usage at a minimum. However, the PM steels of today have significant performance limitations caused by the inherent porosity which impairs the mechanical properties by acting as stress raisers in the material. 2. 2. Deformation and Fatigue Behaviour of Porous and Dense Austenitic Stainless Steel

    Author : Ulf Lindstedt; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; mechanical properties; austenitic stainless steel; PM steel; nitrogen; small cracks; previous particle boundaries; microplasticity; grain size dependence; fatigue; porosity;

    Abstract : PM stainless steels are increasing in use and are expected to do so in the future. A lot of work has been carried out concerning production and sintering of stainless steel powders and on the resulting corrosion behaviour. The deformation behaviour of these materials is less studied. READ MORE

  3. 3. Net-Shape Consolidation of Water-Atomised and Gas-Atomised Steel Powder Towards Full Density

    Author : Anok Babu Nagaram; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; hot isostatic pressing; high temperature sintering; sintering atmosphere; cold isostatic pressing; Powder metallurgy; Prealloyed with Cr PM steel; high density; PM steel;

    Abstract : Powder metallurgy (PM) provides resource- and cost-efficient routes to create near-net shape products compared to conventional metal fabrication techniques. To improve the mechanical performance of PM steels, it is a prerequisite to enhance the density of the material. READ MORE

  5. 5. Key Aspects of Sintering Powder Metallurgy Steel Prealloyed with Chromium and Manganese

    Author : Ola Bergman; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Manganese; Prealloyed; Sintering; Mechanical properties; Chromium; Spinel oxide; Powder metallurgy; PM steel; Oxide reduction; Residual oxides; Atmosphere;

    Abstract : The powder metallurgy (PM) process is a cost efficient near net-shape technology suitable for sustainable manufacturing of structural steel components. A drawback with the PM technology is the difficulty to use oxidation sensitive alloying elements, such as Cr and Mn. READ MORE
