  1. 11. Environmentally friendly plasticized PVC by means of nanotechnology

    Author : Henrik Petersen; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; gas permeability; mechanical properties; organomodification; Plasticized PVC; Hansen Solubility Parameters; nanoclay;

    Abstract : Polyvinyl chloride (PVC) is used in a wide range of industrial areas. Manufacturing of PVC products requires use of additives, such as plasticizers, heat stabilizers and flame retardants. READ MORE

  2. 12. Microbial Transformation of Organotin Compounds under Simulated Landfill Conditions

    Author : Annika Björn; Bo Svensson; Jörgen Ejlertsson; Bo Mattiasson; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Organotin compounds; landfill simulation; PVC; Environmental chemistry; Miljökemi;

    Abstract : Mono- and di-alkyltins are used extensively as heat stabilizers for processing of poly vinyl chloride (PVC). Tin mercaptide stabilizers are some of the most effective PVC stabilizers available. The main applications for tin stabilizers are building/construction products, such as pipes, fittings, siding and profiles (windows etc. READ MORE

  3. 13. Environmentally Friendly Plasticizers for PVC : Improved Material Properties and Long-term Performance Through Plasticizer Design

    Author : Annika Lindström; Minna Hakkaraninen; Anders Södergård; KTH; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; poly butylene adipate ; poly vinyl chloride ; plasticizers; miscibility; mechanical properties; surface segregation; migration; degradation products; Polymer chemistry; Polymerkemi;

    Abstract : Linear and branched poly(butylene adipate) polyesters with number-average molecular weights ranging from 700 to 10 000 g/mol, and degrees of branching ranging from very low to hyperbranched were solution cast with PVC to study the effects of chemical structure, molecular weight, end-group functionality, and chain architecture on plasticizing efficiency and durability. Miscibility was evaluated by the existence of a single glass transition temperature and a shift of the carbonyl group absorption band. READ MORE

  4. 14. Phthalates: A Full Chain Story : Connecting phthalate sources, indoor dust, human intake, and airway symptoms in children

    Author : Anna-Sofia Preece; Carl-Gustav Bornehag; Malin Knutz; Huan Shu; Bruce Lanphear; Karlstads universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; children s health; endocrine disruption; exposure pathways; full chain model; human exposure; plasticizers; pregnancy; PVC; respiratory; SELMA study; Public Health Science; Folkhälsovetenskap;

    Abstract : Phthalates are widely used in a large number of consumer goods and building materials from which they can leach and contaminate the environment such as indoor dust and air. It is unclear how phthalate sources in our homes and indoor dust contribute to human intake and airway symptoms in children. READ MORE

  5. 15. Impacts of alternative combustion diluents and hydrogen addition on a swirl-stabilized flame related to gas turbine application

    Author : Mao Li; Kraftverksteknik; []
    Keywords : lean premixed combustion; Swirl-stabilized flame; Gas turbine combustion; Flame dilution; H2 addition; Lean blowout; CO emission; PVC; CH chemiluminescence; Inverse Abel transform; PIV; POD;

    Abstract : The global energy tendency leads to increasing attention on clean combustion technologies in order to eliminate adverse impacts on the environment. The utilization of oxyfuel combustion (CO2 acts as the only combustion dilution), flame diluents, and hydrogen fuel in gas turbine combustion provides a promising solution to reduce combustion pollutant emissions.
