  1. 1. Palladium(II)-Catalysed Heck and Addition Reactions : Exploring Decarboxylative and Desulfitative Processes

    Author : Bobo Skillinghaug; Mats Larhed; Antonio de la Hoz Ayuso; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Palladium; catalysis; palladium II catalysis; synthesis; Heck; carboxylic acid; sulfinic acid; sodium sulfinate; nitrile; styrene; ketone; aryl ketone; electrospray ionization mass spectrometry; density functional theory; microwave heating; continuous flow; Chemistry with specialization in Organic Chemistry; Kemi med inriktning mot organisk kemi;

    Abstract : Palladium complexes have the ability to catalyse cross-coupling of two organic moieties through the formation of transient metal-carbon bonds, thus bringing them closer to each other to facilitate the formation of a new bond. Palladium-catalysed coupling reactions are one of the most important carbon-carbon forming reactions available to organic chemists and many of these reactions rely on the reactivity of aryl-palladium complexes. 2. 2. Packing effects in palladium(II) and platinum(II) compounds, X-ray crystallography

    Author : Maria Johansson; Kemiska institutionen; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Inorganic chemistry; Platinum II ; Palladium II ; Half-normal probability plots; X-ray crystallography; Packing effects; Oorganisk kemi;

    Abstract : This thesis focuses on i) the effect of packing on the molecular geometry ii) packing arrangements of neutral Pd(II) and Pt(II) complexes iii) the trans influence in Pt(II) complexes iv) the differences in bonding in corresponding Pd(II) and Pt(II) complexes and v) the geometry of Pd(II) complexes with potential catalytic properties. Detailed three-dimensional structural information at the atomic level can be obtained from X-ray crystallography. READ MORE

  3. 3. Structure-Reactivity Correlations for Reactions of Palladium(II) and Platinum(IV) Complexes

    Author : Tiesheng Shi; Kemiska institutionen; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; thiol; l-methionine; maleic acid; carboxylic acid; thioether; platinum IV ; palladium II ; linear free energy relationship; volumes of activation; structure-reactivity correlation; reduction; substitution; equilibria; kinetics; mechanism; glutathione; Animal physiology; Djurfysiologi;

    Abstract : The kinetics and mechanism for substitution reactions on tetraaquapalladium(II) by an extended series of thioethers, a great number of carboxylic acids, and olefins have been studied by use of UV-VIS, stopped-flow, and high-pressure stopped-flow spectrophotometry and NMR spectroscopy. Second-order rate constants k and activation parameters (activation enthalpies, entropies, and volumes) for formation of monodentate 1:1 complexes have been determined. READ MORE

    Abstract : Reactions of trans-dicyanodichloroaurate(III) trans-dibromodicyanoaurate(III), trans-diamminedichlorogold(III), cis-diammine(aqua)chloroplatinum(II), cis-ammineaqua-(cyclohexylamine)chloroplatinum(II), chloro(terpyridine)platinum(II) and chloro-(diethylenetriaminepalldium(II) with dimethyl sulfide, thionucleosides, thionucleotides and thione- and guanine-containing 17-mer oligonucleotides have been investigated by use of conventional and high-pressure stopped-flow spectrophotometry and HPLC technique as a function of ionic strength, pH, temperature and pressure in aqueous solutions. The mechanism and rate of oxidation of dimethyl sulfide by gold(III) complexes depends on the concentration of free halide. READ MORE

  5. 5. Platinum(II) and Palladium (II) Complexes with Group 14 and 15 Donor Ligands. Synthesis, Structure and Substitution Mechanisms

    Author : Ola Wendt; Kemiska institutionen; []
