  1. 21. Development of Palladium-Catalyzed Transformations Involving η1-Allypalladium Species

    Author : Niclas Solin; Kálmán Szabó; Antonio M. Echavarren; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Palladium; Homogenous catalysis; Allylation; Electrophilic substitution; Density functional calculations; Organic chemistry; Organisk kemi;

    Abstract : This thesis is focused on investigation of the structure, reactivity and isomerization reactions of η1-allylpalladium complexes, which are key intermediates in catalytic transformations. The first part of this thesis concerns the structure and reactivity of bis-allylpalladium complexes. READ MORE

  2. 22. Development of New Synthetic Routes to Organoboronates by Catalytic Allylic Substitution and C-H bond Functionalization

    Author : Vilhelm Olsson; Kálmán Szabó; Gary A. Molander; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Palladium; Iridium; Boron; Catalysis; Organic chemistry; Organisk kemi; organisk kemi; Organic Chemistry;

    Abstract : This thesis describes the development of new catalytic methods for the synthesis and application of organometallic reagents, mainly focusing on allylboronic acid derivatives. Thus, palladium pincer-complex catalysis has been applied for extending the scope of palladiumcatalyzed borylation reactions in the synthesis of regio- and stereodefined functionalized allylboronic acid derivatives. Abstract : It is widely accepted that palladium is one of the most useful catalysts in organic chemistry, and many palladium(0)-catalysed carbon–carbon bond-forming reactions have been developed over the years. In addition, the ever-growing need for more environmentally benign processes in the chemical industry has driven scientists to look for greener options while developing new methodologies for organic synthesis. 4. 24. Synthesis of functionalized allylic, propargylic and allenylic compounds : Selective formation of C–B, C–C, C–CF3 and C-Si bonds

    Author : Tony Zhao; Kálmán Szabó; Hajime Ito; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; palladium catalysis; allylboration; allenylboration; trifluoromethylation; silylation; copper catalysis; borylation; bimetallic catalysis; organisk kemi; Organic Chemistry;

    Abstract : This thesis is focused on the development of new palladium and copper- mediated reactions for functionalization of alkenes and propargylic alcohol derivatives. The synthetic utility of the 1,2-diborylated butadienes synthesized in one of these processes has also been demonstrated. READ MORE

  5. 25. Metallacyclic Phosphine Complexes and Intramolecular Csp3-H Bond Activation -Synthesis, Characterisation and Catalytic Application

    Author : Sven Sjövall; Kemiska institutionen; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; catalysis; Heck; diphosphite; diphosphine; phosphine; cyclometallation; C-C activation; C-O activation; C-H activation; palladium; rhodium; iridium; Inorganic chemistry; Oorganisk kemi;

    Abstract : The work presented in this thesis deals with metallacyclic late transition metal complexes, obtained by intramolecular Csp3-H activation, and the application of such compounds in catalysis. The new hemilabile P,O phosphines N-methyl-N-propionyl-2-(diphenylphosphino)benzylamine (DPPAM), o-(diphenylphosphino)benzoic acid ethyl ester (DPPES), o-(diphenylphosphino)benzoic acid methyl ether (DPPET) and ±-1-(2- diphenylphosphino)phenylethyl propionate (±-DPPMES) and the symmetrical diphosphorus donor ligands cis-1,3-bis[(diphenylphosphino)methyl]-cyclohexane (DPCY), cis-1,3-bis[(di-tertbutylphosphino)methyl]cyclohexane (DTBCY) and cis-1,3-bis[(di-isopropylphosphino)methyl]cyclohexane (DIPCY) have been synthesised, allowing the preparation of a range of new metallacyclic rhodium(III), iridium(III) and palladium(II) complexes.
