  1. 1. Dryer Section Control in Paper Machines During Web Breaks

    University dissertation from Lund Univ

    Author : Jenny Ekvall; Mittuniversitetet.; Mittuniversitetet.; [2004]
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TECHNOLOGY Information technology Automatic control; TEKNIKVETENSKAP Informationsteknik Reglerteknik; Dryer Section; Web breaks; Paper machine; steam pressure control; Physical modeling; Dryer section; paper machine; physical modeling; web breaks;

    Abstract : Web breaks in the dryer section of a paper machine cause loss of production and quality problems. After a web break, the steam pressure in the cylinders must be reduced to avoid overheating. READ MORE

  2. 2. Modeling and simulation of paper structure development

    University dissertation from Sweden : Mid Sweden University

    Author : Stefan B Lindström; [2008]
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Forming; Fibre; Paper; Fibre suspension; Paper structure; Simulation; Rheology;

    Abstract : A numerical tool has been developed for particle-level simulations of fibre suspension flows, particularly forming of the fibre network structure of paper sheets in the paper machine. The model considers inert fibres of various equilibrium shapes, and finite stiffness, interacting with each other through normal, frictional, and lubrication forces, and with the surrounding fluid medium through hydrodynamic forces. 3. 3. Modeling and Control of the Paper Machine Drying Section

    University dissertation from Department of Automatic Control, Lund Institute of Technology, Lund University

    Author : Ola Slätteke; [2006]
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; reglerteknik; robotteknik; Automatiska system; Moisture control; Paper-making; Pressure control; Predictive Control; Mid-ranging Control; Wood; Drying Section Modeling; Automation; control engineering; robotics; pulp and paper technology; Pappers- och massateknik;

    Abstract : The topic of this thesis is modeling and control of the last part of the paper machine - the drying section. Paper is dried by letting it pass through a series of steam heated cylinders and the evaporation is thus powered by the latent heat of vaporization of the steam. READ MORE

  5. 5. Signal Modeling and Data Reduction for Wireless Brain-Machine Interfaces

    University dissertation from Lund University, Dept. of Electrical and Information Technology

    Author : Palmi Thor Thorbergsson; [2012]
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Extracellular neural recordings; wireless brain-machine interfaces; signal modeling; data reduction; compression;

    Abstract : Brain-machine interfaces (BMIs) provide a uni- or bidirectional communication link between the central nervous system and the outside world. This link facilitates the studying of neuronal mechanisms underlying behavior as well as the treatment of neurological disease. READ MORE
