  1. 1. Random networks with weights and directions, and epidemics thereon

    Author : Kristoffer Spricer; Tom Britton; Pieter Trapman; Istvan Kiss; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Epidemics; Reproduction number; Final size; Large outbreak; Weighted network; Undirected; Partially directed; Configuration model; Copula; Mathematical Statistics; matematisk statistik;

    Abstract : Networks, consisting of nodes and of edges, can be used to model numerous phenomena, e.g, web pages linking to each other or interactions between people in a population. READ MORE

  2. 2. On Directed Random Graphs and Greedy Walks on Point Processes

    Author : Katja Gabrysch; Svante Janson; Takis Konstantopoulos; Thomas Mountford; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Directed random graphs; Tracy-Widom distribution; Poisson-weighted infinite tree; Greedy walk; Point processes;

    Abstract : This thesis consists of an introduction and five papers, of which two contribute to the theory of directed random graphs and three to the theory of greedy walks on point processes.          We consider a directed random graph on a partially ordered vertex set, with an edge between any two comparable vertices present with probability p, independently of all other edges, and each edge is directed from the vertex with smaller label to the vertex with larger label. 3. 3. Protein Folding Studied by Site Directed Mutagenesis

    Author : Tomas Ternström; Biokemi och Strukturbiologi; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Metabolism; Biokemi; metabolism; Biochemistry; Transition state; Activation Barrier; Two-State; Protein Folding; Protein Engineering;

    Abstract : The N-terminal RNA binding domain of U1A has been shown to fold in a two-state process without accumulating any intermediates. U1A has a symmetrically curved chevron plot which seems to result mainly from changes of the transition state. READ MORE

  4. 4. Some advances in Respondent-driven sampling on directed social networks

    Author : Jens Malmros; Tom Britton; Fredrik Liljeros; Simon Frost; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Mathematical Statistics; matematisk statistik;

    Abstract : Respondent-driven sampling (RDS) is one of the most commonly used methods when sampling from hidden or hard-to-reach populations. The RDS methodology combines an improved snowball sampling scheme with a mathematical model that is able to produce unbiased population estimates given that some assumptions about the actual recruitment process are fulfilled. 5. 5. Essays on Macroeconomics and Political Economy

    Author : Jinfeng Ge; John Hassler; Espen Moen; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; Relative price; Bargaining; Incomplete contract; Ricardian model of labor market; directed search; Free-rider problem; Markov perfect equilibrium; Economics; nationalekonomi;

    Abstract : This thesis consists of three self-contained essays dealing with different aspects of macroeconomics and political Economy.The Relative Price of Investment Goods and Sectoral Contract DependenceI develop a quantitative model to explain the relationship between TFPs at the aggregate and sector levels and contracting institutions across countries.
