  1. 21. Studies of Heavy Ion Induced Desorption in the Energy Range 5-100 MeV/u

    Author : Emma Hedlund; Lars Westerberg; Oleg Malyshev; Manfred Leisch; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : Physics; Heavy Ion Induced Desorption; Ultra High Vacuum; NEG Coating; Heavy Ion Accelerators; Test Particle Monte-Carlo; Gas Flow; Throughput; Laser Refractometry; Metrology; Fysik;

    Abstract : During operation of heavy ion accelerators a significant pressure rise has been observed when the intensity of the high energy beam was increased. The cause for this pressure rise is ion induced desorption, which is the result when beam ions collide with residual gas molecules in the accelerator, whereby they undergo charge exchange. READ MORE

  2. 22. Fragmentation in Proton-Nucleus Reactions from 100 to 1400 MeV

    Author : Henrik Jäderström; Lars Wesretberg; Yuri Murin; Kjell Aleklett; Haik Simon; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : Nuclear physics; proton; deuteron; 20Ne; 28Si; Xe; nuclear reactions; inverse kinematics; recoils; intermediate mass fragments; angular distribution; DCM model; JQMD model; CFEM model; single event upset; Kärnfysik;

    Abstract : The heaviest fragments, recoils, have been studied in proton and deuteron induced 28Si reactions and proton-20Ne reactions at 100-300 MeV per nucleon. Inclusive charge and angular distributions and coincidences between He nuclei and recoils have been compared to two theoretical models, Dubna Cascade Model and JAERI Quantum Molecular Dynamics. 3. 23. η Meson Production in Proton-Proton Collisions at Excess Energies of 40 and 72 MeV

    Author : Henrik Petrén; Tord Johansson; Pawel Moskal; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Nuclear physics; Kärnfysik; Elementary particle physics; Elementarpartikelfysik; Nuclear Physics; kärnfysik;

    Abstract : The production of η mesons in proton-proton collisions has been studied with the WASA detector using internal pellet targets in the CELSIUS storage ring at the The Svedberg Laboratory in Uppsala. Data were taken at two beam energies, 1360 MeV and 1445 MeV, corresponding to CM excess energies of 40 and 72 MeV, respectively. READ MORE

  4. 24. Meson production in pd collisions

    Author : Karin Schönning; Jozef Zlomanczuk; Bo Höistad; Susan Schadmand; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; meson production; measured angular distribution; total cross section; polarisation; Nuclear physics; Kärnfysik; Nuclear Physics; kärnfysik;

    Abstract : Meson production in proton-deuteron collisions has been studied using the WASA detector facility at the CELSIUS storage ring in Uppsala. Data were obtained at two different beam energies, 1360 MeV and 1450 MeV, slightly above threshold for η and ω mesons. READ MORE

  5. 25. Quark Distributions and Charged Higgs Boson Production : Studies of Proton Structure and New Physics

    Author : Johan Alwall; Gunnar Ingelman; Johan Rathsman; Dieter Zeppenfeld; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Physics; quark distributions; parton density functions; proton structure; strange quark; intrinsic charm; charged Higgs boson; supersymmetry; NuTeV; LHC; parton showers; matrix element; elementary particle physics; Fysik; Physics; Fysik;

    Abstract : The Standard Model describes all elementary particles known today, but at larger energies it will have to be complemented with new particles and interactions. To be able to distinguish new physics at proton colliders such as LHC at CERN, it is essential to have an appropriate description of the colliding protons and their interactions. READ MORE
