  1. 6. Effects of Dark Matter in Astrophysical Systems

    Author : Stefan Clementz; Mattias Blennow; Tommy Ohlsson; Riccardo Catena; KTH; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Dark matter; Self-interactions; solar capture; helioseismology; inelastic dark matter; direct detection; indirect detection; Fysik; Physics;

    Abstract : When studying astrophysical structures with sizes ranging from dwarf galaxies to galaxy clusters, it becomes clear that there are vast amounts of unobservable gravitating mass. A compelling hypothesis is that this missing mass, which we call dark matter, consists of elementary particles that can be described in the same manner as those of the standard model of particle physics. 5. 10. Aspects of Dimensional Deconstruction and Neutrino Physics

    Author : Tomas Hällgren; Tommy Ohlsson; Stephan J. Hubber; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Dimensional deconstruction; higher-dimensional gauge theories; discretized gravity; neutrino mass; neutrino mixing; neutrino oscillations; Engineering physics; Teknisk fysik;

    Abstract : The existence of at or curved extra spatial dimensions provides new insights into several of the problems which face the Standard Model of particle physics, including the gauge hierarchy problem, the smallness of neutrino masses, and the dark matter problem. However, higher-dimensional gauge theories are not renormalizable and can only be considered as low-energy effective theories, with limited applicability. READ MORE
