  1. 31. Semipermeable membrane devices as integrative tools for monitoring nonpolar aromatic compounds in air

    Author : Hanna Söderström; Mats Tysklind; Per-Anders Bergqvist; Jochen F. Muller; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Environmental chemistry; air pollution; alkyl-PAHs; atmosphere; bioavailability; boundary layer; diffusive sampling; emissions; integrative; membrane; monitoring; nitro-PAHs; PAHs; particles; passive samplers; PCBs; plants; PRCs; release rate; sampler design; sources; SPMDs; traffic; uptake rate; wind effect; wood burning; Miljökemi; Environmental chemistry; Miljökemi;

    Abstract : Air pollutants pose a high risk for humans, and the environment, and this pollution is one of the major environmental problems facing modern society. Active air sampling is the technique that has been traditionally used to monitor nonpolar aromatic air pollutants. READ MORE

  2. 32. Passive Island Detection of Microgrid by Grid Forming Inverter

    Author : Shoaib Salim Inamdar; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; microgrid; passive island detection; Grid forming; rotor angle deviation; non-detection zone; inertia; virtual synchronous machine; voltage vector shift.;

    Abstract : The supply reliability of a local grid will be improved if the local grid is managed as a microgrid, with the ability to operate in island mode when the main grid is temporarily unavailable. This thesis focuses on microgrids powered by inverter-based resources (IBRs), one or several of which need to be equipped with grid forming (GFM) capability for establishing and controlling the voltage and frequency of the microgrid during island operation. 3. 33. Controlling Indoor Climate. Passive cooling of residential buildings in hot-humid climates in China

    Author : Zhiwu Wang; Byggnadskonstruktion; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Byggnadsteknik; Building construction; China; hot humid climate; thermal comfort; Computational Fluid Dynamics CFD; residential buildings; roofs; indoor climate; passive cooling; cross-ventilation;

    Abstract : Overheating is a paramount problem in residential buildings in hot-humid climates in China during summer. This study aims to deal with the overheating problem and the problem of poor air quality in dwellings. READ MORE

  4. 34. Supporting the use of design knowledge : an assessment of commenting agents

    Author : Mikael Ericsson; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Computer science; Datavetenskap;

    Abstract : This thesis contributes to an understanding of the usefulness of and effects from using commenting agents for supporting the use of design knowledge in user interface design. In two empirical studies, we have explored and investigated commenting agents from the aspects of usefulness, appropriateness of different tool behaviour and forms of comments. READ MORE

  5. 35. Inherent Safety Features and Passive Prevention Approaches for Pb/Bi-cooled Accelerator-Driven Systems

    Author : Johan Carlsson; KTH; []
    Keywords : Inherent Safety; Passive Safety; Accelerator-Driven Systems; ADS; nuclear waste; emergency decay heat removal; natural convection; thermal radiation;

    Abstract : This thesis is devoted to the investigation of passivesafety and inherent features of subcritical nucleartransmutation systems - accelerator-driven systems. The generalobjective of this research has been to improve the safetyperformance and avoid elevated coolant temperatures inworst-case scenarios like unprotected loss-of-ow accidents,loss-of-heat-sink accidents, and a combination of both theseaccident initiators.
