1. Conformations and vibrations in polymer electrolytes
Abstract : Solvent-free solid electrolytes can be formed by dissolving a salt in a polymer matrix (e.g. poly (ethylene oxide), PEO). Such compounds are of interest due to their proposed use as solid electrolytes in new types of electrochemical devices e. READ MORE

2. Large scale integration and interactive exploration of cancer data – with applications to glioblastoma
Abstract : Glioblastoma is the most common malignant brain tumor, with a median survival of approximately 15 months. The standard of care treatment consists of surgical resection followed by radiotherapy and chemotherapy, where chemotherapy only prolongs survival by approximately 3 months. READ MORE

3. Implications of Local Puumala Hantavirus Genetics and Epidemiology for Diagnostics and Vaccine Development
Abstract : Puumala viruses, a member of the Hantavirus genus in the Bunyaviridae family, are enveloped by a lipid bilayer and possesses a tripartite single stranded RNA genome with negative polarity. The hantaviruses encode four proteins: a nucleocapsid protein (N), two membrane spanning glycoproteins (GN and GC) and a RNA dependent RNA polymerase (RdRp). READ MORE

4. Peace by repatriation : Concepts, cases, and conditions
Abstract : The focus of this study is the assumption that the return of refugees is a necessary condition for the establishment of sustainable peace after armed conflict. This assumption is often made in the peacebuilding literature as well as by policy makers, but it has rarely been the object of systematic analysis. READ MORE

5. Structural Studies of a Xyloglucan Endotransglycosylase from Populus tremula x tremuloides and Three Conserved Hypothetical Proteins from Mycobacterium tuberculosis
Abstract : This thesis describes the structural studies of four different proteins from two organisms. Xyloglucan endotransglycosylases, XETs, are involved in plant cell wall expansion and remodeling by splitting and reconnecting xyloglucan-cellulose crosslinks. The first crystal structure of a XET enzyme has been determined to 1.8 Å. READ MORE
