  1. 1. Aspects of Regulation of GFR and Tubular Function in the Diabetic Kidney : Roles of Adenosine, Nitric Oxide and Oxidative Stress

    Author : Patrik Persson; Fredrik Palm; Peter Hansell; Bengt Rippe; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; diabetes; diabetic nephropathy; glomerular filtration rate; renal blood flow; insulin; renal hemodynamics; micropuncture; oxygen; NADPH-oxidase; apocynin; streptozotocin; l-arginine; CGS21680; rats; mice; Physiology; Fysiologi; Medical Science; Medicinsk vetenskap;

    Abstract : Diabetic nephropathy is the main cause for initiation of renal replacement therapy and early symptoms in patients include increased glomerular filtration rate (GFR), decreased oxygen tension and albuminuria, followed by a progressive decline in GFR and loss of kidney function. Experimental models of diabetes display increased GFR, decreased tissue oxygenation and nitric oxide bioavailability. READ MORE

  2. 2. CALIBRATION OF CHROMATOGRAPHY MODELS

    Author : Patrik Persson; Avdelningen för kemiteknik; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; film mass transfer resistance; Kemiteknik och kemisk teknologi; sorption kinetics; external volume; monolithic bed; shallow bed; packed bed; capillary model; detailed model; computer simulation; parameter estimation; diffusion; model calibration; Chromatography; modelling; proteins; Chemical technology and engineering;

    Abstract : AbstractThis thesis is devoted to calibration of mathematical chromatography models. Chromatography models include unknown parameters that must be determined before the models can be applied to optimization or scale-up of a chromatography process. READ MORE

  3. 3. Predicting Time and Memory Demands of Object-Oriented Programs

    Author : Patrik Persson; Institutionen för datavetenskap; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES;

    Abstract : Embedded computer systems are subject to a multitude of requirements. These include real-time requirements, that is, such computers must respond to external events within limited time. Many systems, such as satellites and telephone switches, must also operate unattended for long periods of time. They must not fail due to defective software. READ MORE

  4. 4. Analysis and Design of Conformal Array Antennas

    Author : Patrik Persson; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Conformal antennas; conformal arrays; UTD; high frequency method; MoM; hybrid method; mutual coupling; singly curved surface; doubly curved surface; geodesics; dielectric covered circular cylinder; non-paraxial region. paraxial region; waveguide fed; Electrical engineering; Elektroteknik;

    Abstract : Today there is a great need for communication between people and even between things, using systems onboard e.g. aircraft, cars, ships and satellites. As a consequence, these communications needs require antennas mounted on or integrated in the surfaces of different vehicles or platforms, i. READ MORE

  5. 5. Energy Savings Using a Direct Current Distribution Network in a PV and Battery Equipped Residential Building

    Author : Patrik Ollas; Caroline Markusson; Mattias Persson; Torbjörn Thiringer; Jan-Olof Dalenbäck; RISE; []

    Abstract : Energy from solar photovoltaic (PV) are generated as direct current (DC) and almost all of today’s electrical loads in residential buildings, household appliances and HVAC system (Heating Ventilation and Air-conditioning) are operated on DC. For a conventional alternating current (AC) distribution system this requires the need for multiple conversion steps before the final user-stage. READ MORE
