  1. 1. On the logic of pattern cutting : foundational cuts and approximations of the body

    Author : Rickard Lindqvist; Högskolan i Borås; []
    Keywords : HUMANIORA; HUMANITIES; Textiles and fashion; Textiles and Fashion General ; Textil och mode generell ;

    Abstract : Fashion designers are presented with a range of different principles for pattern cutting and the interest in this area has grown rapidly over the past few years, both due to the publication of a number of works dealing with the subject in different ways and the fact that a growing number of designers emphasise cutting in their practices. Although a range of principles and concepts for pattern cutting are presented from different perspectives, the main body of these systems, traditional as well as contemporary, are predominately based on a quantified approximation of the body. 3. 3. Vibrations in Metal Cutting : Measurement, Analysis and Reduction

    Author : Linus Pettersson; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY;

    Abstract : Vibration and noise in metal cutting are ubiquitous problems in the workshop. The turning operation is one kind of metal cutting that exhibits vibration related problems. Today the industry aims at smaller tolerances in surface finish. Harder regulations in terms of the noise levels in the operator environment are also central. READ MORE

  4. 4. Numerical modelling of the rock fragmentation process by mechanical tools

    Author : Hongyuan Liu; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Mining and Rock Engineering; Gruv- och Berganläggningsteknik;

    Abstract : The rock fragmentation process by mechanical tools is investigated using numerical method. The rock and tool interaction code (R-T2D) is first developed on the basis of the rock failure process analysis (RFPA) model and the finite element analysis (FEA) method. READ MORE

  5. 5. Integration of remote sensing and ancillary data for geographical analysis and risk assessment of forest regeneration failures

    Author : Maj-Liz Nordberg; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES;

    Abstract : The spatial distribution and size of forest regeneration areas are the basis for an analysis of where climatically unfavourable sites for forest regeneration are likely to occur if the area is clear felled. Knowledge about thermal variations is of interest in forestry, as avoidance of surface temperature extremes is important to regeneration success. READ MORE
