  1. 1. Vehicle-Pavement Interaction

    Author : Parisa Khavassefat; Björn Birgisson; Denis Jelagin; David Cebon; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Finite element; Viscoelasticity; Moving load; Dynamic axle loads; Road roughness; Flexible pavement; Stochastic;

    Abstract : Several aspects of vehicle-pavement interaction have been studied and discussed in this thesis. Initially the pavement response is studied through a quasi-static and a dynamic computationally efficient framework under moving traffic loads. READ MORE

  2. 2. Frost modelling and pavement temperatures : summer pavement temperaures and frost modelling

    Author : Åke Hermansson; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Soil Mechanics; Geoteknik;

    Abstract : Three papers form the present thesis. In paper I a numerical model for calculation of surface temperatures on a highway is presented. The model takes all relevant factors into consideration, i.e. READ MORE

  3. 3. Municipal street pavement maintenance and management practices in Sweden

    Author : Muhammad Amjad Afridi; Sigurdur Erlingsson; Inge Hoff; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; municipalities; street maintenance; pavement management systems; questionnaire; pavement deterioration; cold climate; performance prediction models; machine learning; random forest; pavement condition index; Building Materials; Byggnadsmaterial;

    Abstract : A well-functioning street network is pivotal in the socio-economic development of a region. Street networks not only facilitate the movement of people and goods but also allocate space for utility services. READ MORE

  4. 4. Mechanistic-Empirical Modelling of Flexible Pavement Performance : Verifications Using APT Measurements

    Author : Abubeker W. Ahmed; Sigurdur Erlingsson; Hervè Di Benedetto; Statens väg- och transportforskningsinstitut; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Performance; Deformation; Model not math ; Rutting wheel ; Viscoelasticity; Elasticity; Axle load; Flexible pavement; Laboratory not an organization ; Test; Thesis; Heavy vehicle simulator; Wheel tracking test; 32 Road: Pavement design; 32 Road: Pavement design; Transportvetenskap; Civil and Architectural Engineering;

    Abstract : Mechanistic-Empirical  (M-E)  pavement  design  procedures  are  composed  of  a  reliable  response model to estimate the state of stress in the pavement and distress models in order to predict the different types of pavement distresses due to the prevailing traffic and environmental conditions. One of the main objectives of this study was to develop a response model based on multilayer elastic  theory   (MLET)  with  improved  computational  performance  by   optimizing  the   time consuming parts of the MLET processes. 5. 5. Mixed-Grained Till in Pavement Structures; A Field and Laboratory Study

    Author : Helene Kennedy; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; permanent deformation behaviour; triaxial test; pavement; till;

    Abstract : The road network in Sweden has historically been constructed using rock fill and natural gravel. More than 75 per cent of the land surface of Sweden is covered by glacial till and greater utilization of site-won material will not only reduce transportation costs but will also promote better sustainability of natural assets.
