  1. 1. Peptide-tagged proteins in aqueous two-phase systems

    Author : Anna Nilsson; Biokemi och Strukturbiologi; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Metabolism; Biokemi; metabolism; Biochemistry; green fluorescent protein; cutinase; tryptophan; Aqueous two-phase system; peptide-tagged protein;

    Abstract : This thesis deals with proteins containing peptide tags for improved partitioning in aqueous two-phase systems. Qualitatively the peptide-tagged protein partitioning could be predicted from peptide data, i.e. partitioning trends found for peptides were also found for the peptide-tagged proteins. READ MORE

  2. 2. Hydrophobic Fusion Tags: Implications For Bioseparation and Cellular Expression

    Author : Anna Collén; Biokemi och Strukturbiologi; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; protein production; secretion; aqueous two-phase systems; Trichoderma reesei; endoglucanase; Biochemistry; Metabolism; Biokemi; metabolism;

    Abstract : The studies in this thesis have shown that the partitioning of endoglucanase I (EGI, Cel7B) from T. reesei could be significantly improved by relatively minor genetic engineering. By adding short peptides composed of tryptophan and proline residues to EGI, extreme partitioning could be obtained. READ MORE

  3. 3. The collagen fibrillar network: Sequential degradation of its constituents by tissue metalloproteinases

    Author : Terrence Heathfield; Enheten för led- och mjukvävnadsforskning; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; metabolism; Metabolism; Biochemistry; collagen; fibromodulin; cartilage; osteoarthritis; Biokemi;

    Abstract : The cartilage matrix is made up of a fibrillar meshwork comprising type II collagen and other associated proteins. One main function of this network is to retain the large aggregating proteoglycan, aggrecan, a vital component in the regulation of fluid flux in cartilage. READ MORE

  4. 4. Separation Methods in Membrane Proteomics -Integration of Aqueous Two-Phase Partitioning for Enrichment and Pre-Fractionation

    Author : Henrik Everberg; Biokemi och Strukturbiologi; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Membrane proteins; Proteins; metabolism; Biokemi; Metabolism; Biochemistry; Aqueous two-phase partitioning; enzymology; Proteiner; enzymologi; Proteomics;

    Abstract : The study of the protein complement of a genome is called proteomics. Proteomics can be defined as identification, quantification and characterization of a total set of proteins expressed at different time-points or under different cellular states to provide global information about biological processes. 5. 5. Transport and metabolism of opioid tetrapeptide agonists with a focus on oral and respiratory delivery

    Author : Eva Krondahl; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Pharmacy; opioid peptides; permeability; metabolism; oral delivery; pulmonary delivery; FARMACI; PHARMACY; FARMACI; galenisk farmaci; Pharmaceutics;

    Abstract : The clinical development of peptide drugs for oral delivery has often been hindered because of poor transport across the intestinal membranes and degradation in the gastrointestinal tract and liver. Alternative delivery routes through more permeable membranes preferably with less pronounced proteolytic activity, such as the nasal and pulmonary routes, have therefore been considered. READ MORE
