  1. 6. Adolescents at risk of persistent antisocial behaviour and alcohol problems : The role of behaviour, personality and biological factors

    Author : Jenny M. Eklund; Britt af Klinteberg; Per-Anders Rydelius; David P. Farrington; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; adolescence; gender; hyperactive behaviour; biological vulnerability; personality; norm breaking behaviour; criminality; violence; alcohol problems; Psychology; Psykologi;

    Abstract : Antisocial behaviour and alcohol problems are areas of great concern to society, not only associated with personal and emotional costs for the affected individuals and their victims, but also with major societal financial costs. What makes some individuals more likely than others to develop these kinds of problems? The general aim of this thesis was to explore the role of individual characteristics in the development of antisocial behaviour and alcohol problems. READ MORE

  2. 7. Epitaxy of oxide and nitride thin films grown by magnetron sputtering

    Author : Faezeh Alijan Farzad Lahiji; Per Eklund; Arnaud Le Febvrier; Biplab Paul; Tomas Nyberg; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES;

    Abstract : The need for electronic devices with new functionalities has caused research to move in a way to design and utilize materials with high-performance thermoelectricity, widely used in batteries, sensors, and electronic devices. Two-dimensional materials (2D) with unique structures and remarkable properties have been identified to fabricate oxide heteroepitaxy. READ MORE

  3. 8. Nanostructured materials for gas sensing applications

    Author : Kristina Buchholt; Per Eklund; Lars Hultman; Anita Lloyd Spetz; Harry L. Tuller; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP;

    Abstract : In this Thesis I have investigated the use of nanostructured films as sensing and contact layers for field effect gas sensors in order to achieve high sensitivity, selectivity, and long term stability of the devices in corrosive environments at elevated temperatures. Electrochemically synthesized Pd and Au nanoparticles deposited as sensing layers on capacitive field effect devices were found to give a significant response to NOx with small, or no responses to H2, NH3, and C3H6. 4. 9. Epitaxial growth, structure, and thermoelectric properties of CaMn- and V-based oxides

    Author : Erik Ekström; Per Eklund; Biplab Paul; Fredrik Eriksson; Nini Pryds; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Thin film; PVD; Oxides; Epitaxy; XRD;

    Abstract : This thesis is focused on physical vapor deposition, epitaxy, and structural characterization of CaMnO3 and VO2. Environmentally friendly and abundant materials are important for energy savings in applications, e.g., thermoelectrics for waste-heat recycling and thermochromic materials for passive indoor-temperature regulation. 5. 10. Growth and thermoelectric properties of CaMnO3-based thin films

    Author : Erik Ekström; Per Eklund; Fredrik Eriksson; Biplab Paul; Erik Lewin; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES;

    Abstract : The field of them1oelectrics started in early 19th century. Since the discovery of the Seebeck effect and the Peltier effect, thermoelectric modules have found their way into, mostly, niche applications such as radioisotope thermoelectric generators on space missions. READ MORE
