  1. 1. Organic Azides : Functional Molecules and Materials

    Author : Giampiero Proietti; Peter Dinér; Per I. Arvidsson; KTH; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; perfluorinated Aromatic Azide; Photoactivatable; fluorophores; aggregation-induced emission; sulfonimidamides; sulfoximes; chiral auxilary; organogel; azides reduction; Ni-B; Kemi; Chemistry;

    Abstract : The work presented in this thesis stems from the chemistry of the azido group, and more specifically from the unique reactivity of perfluorinated aromatic azides and how to use this reactivity to access new types of molecules to enable new applications in asymmetric synthesis and materials.In the first section of this thesis, a photoactivatable fluorescence probe is presented, where the non-luminescent azide was activated via a UV-light-promoted intramolecular N–H insertion reaction forming a fluorescence emitter. 2. 2. Conformational Stability!? : Synthesis and Conformational Studies of Unnatural Backbone Modified Peptides

    Author : Anna S. Norgren; Per I. Arvidsson; Norbert Sewald; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : Organic chemistry; Conformational investigations; β-peptides; glycosylation; biomolecular recognition; cyclic β³-peptides; cyclic mixed α β²-peptides; β-peptoids; Organisk kemi;

    Abstract : The beauty of the wide functionality of proteins and peptides in Nature is determined by their ability to adopt three-dimensional structures. This thesis describes artificial molecules developed to mimic secondary structures similar to those found crucial for biological activities. READ MORE

  3. 3. Physiological aspects on intracardiac blood flow

    Author : Per Arvidsson; Lund Klinisk fysiologi; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; magnetic resonance imaging; 4D flow; physiology; cardiac development; kinetic energy; hemodynamic force; vortex ring formation;

    Abstract : Magnetic resonance imaging enables detailed in vivo study of complex flow through 3D, time-resolved phase contrast imaging (4D flow). 4D flow may reveal previously unknown aspects of the physiology of intracardiac blood flow, and possibly elucidate pathophysiological processes that have yet to manifest themselves outside the heart. 4. 4. Priority Setting and Rationing in Primary Health Care

    Author : Eva Arvidsson; Per Carlsson; Lars Borgquist; Malin André; Magne Nylenna; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : Background: Studies on priority setting in primary health care are rare. Priority setting and rationing in primary health care is important because outcomes from primary health care have significant implications for health care costs and outcomes in the health system as a whole. 5. 5. Cardiac function in hereditary transthyretin amyloidosis : an echocardiographic study

    Author : Sandra Arvidsson; Per Lindqvist; Eva Nylander; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Amyloid; echocardiography; ECG; HCM; fibril type; strain; ATTR; cardiomyopathy; speckle tracking;

    Abstract : Background: Hereditary transthyretin amyloidosis (ATTR) is a lethal disease in which misfolded transthyretin (TTR) proteins accumulate as insoluble aggregates in tissues throughout the body. A common mutation is the exchange of valine to methionine at place 30 (TTR V30M), a form endemically found in the northern parts of Sweden. READ MORE
