1. Colorectal Liver Metastases – Different Aspects on Treatment with Associated Liver Partition and Portal Vein Ligation for Staged Hepatectomy and on Portal Vein Occlusion
Abstract : Introduction: For patients with colorectal liver metastases (CRLM), the only treatment with a possibility for long-term survival and cure is radical resection. The majority of patients are at the time of diagnosis not assessed as resectable because they have advanced disease in the liver or unresectable extrahepatic disease or are too frail to withstand liver surgery. 2. Preconditioners and fundamental solutions
Abstract : New preconditioning techniques for the iterative solution of systems of equations arising from discretizations of partial differential equations are considered. Fundamental solutions, both of differential and difference operators, are used as kernels in discrete, truncated convolution operators. READ MORE

3. Numerical Computations with Fundamental Solutions
Abstract : Two solution strategies for large, sparse, and structured algebraic systems of equations are considered. The first strategy is to construct efficient preconditioners for iterative solvers. The second is to reduce the sparse algebraic system to a smaller, dense system of equations, which are called the boundary summation equations. READ MORE

4. Beyond an instrumental approach to religion and development : Challenges for church-based healthcare in Tanzania
Abstract : This dissertation serves as a contribution to the larger ongoing debate on the role of religion in development in an effort to move beyond an instrumental approach. The aim is to study the role of religious agents in development through the prism of contractual partnerships between church organisations and the Tanzanian state in healthcare delivery. READ MORE

5. Analysis of noncovalent and covalent protein-ligand complexes by electrospray ionisation mass spectrometry
Abstract : In this thesis, the application of electrospray ionisation mass spectrometry (ESI-MS) to the analysis of intact proteins is demonstrated. In papers I and II, the use of ESI-MS for the analysis of noncovalent protein-ligand complexes were discussed. READ MORE
