21. Analysis of Genetic Alterations in Patients Affected with Neurofibromatosis Type 2 and its Associated Tumors
Abstract : Neurofibromatosis type 2 (NF2) is an autosomal dominant disorder with the clinical hallmark of bilateral vestibular schwannomas (VS). Patients affected by a severe NF2 phenotype also presents with peripheral schwannomas, meningiomas and ependymomas. The closely related disorder schwannomatosis also displays multiple schwannomas, but never VS. READ MORE

22. Chronic hepatitis B : immunological, virological and clinical aspects in the natural course and during the combined prednisolone and interferon-alpha-2b therapy
Abstract : The aims of this study were to characterize the IgM and IgG antibody responses to well-defined B-cell epitopes within the preS2 region of the HBV envelope proteins in sera from Chinese and Caucasian patients with chronic HBV infection in relation to viral load and liver disease activity. In addition, the effects of the combined prednisolone and interferon- alpha-2b therapy on these parameters, as well as on the peripheral lymphocyte subsets, were studied in Chinese patients with chronic hepatitis B. 23. Linkage and association analysis in multiple sclerosis
Abstract : Multiple sclerosis (MS) is a chronic inflammatory disease of the central nervous system, which is characterized by relapsing or progressive demyelinating plaques in the brain and spinal cord. It is well established that complex genetic factors influence susceptibility to MS. READ MORE

24. Distribution of CGRP and CGRP receptor in the trigeminovascular system and CNS
Abstract : Calcitonin gene-related peptide (CGRP) has a key role in the pathophysiology of migraine and is associated with activation of the trigeminovascular system. Recently, CGRP receptor antagonists have been developed with clinical efficacy. READ MORE

25. Effects on cardiac output distribution of propranolol, verapamil and epidural blockade during continuous positive-pressure ventilation : An experimental study in the pig
Abstract : The blood perfusion of all body regions is governed by local vasoregulation, and systemic humoral and neural impulses provide additional tuning of vascular tone. Is the regulation of circulation centralised or, in other words, is the sympathetic nervous system (SNS) superior to local autoregulation of the perfusion of vital organs? Using the microsphere method and acquired data on the body composition of the pig, it was possible to interpret the absolute distribution of cardiac output (CO) and flux changes between organs and tissues.
