  1. 1. Peripheral Vision : Adaptive Optics and Psychophysics

    Author : Robert Rosén; Peter Unsbo; Larry Thibos; KTH; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES;

    Abstract : This thesis is about our peripheral vision. Peripheral vision is poor compared to central vision, due to both neural and optical factors. The optical factors include astigmatism, defocus and higher order aberrations consisting mainly of coma. Neurally, the density of ganglion cells decreases towards the periphery, which limits the sampling density. READ MORE

  2. 2. Tourism Development in Peripheral Areas : Processes of Local Innovation and Change in Northern Sweden

    Author : Patrick Brouder; Peter Fredman; Linda Lundmark; Mittuniversitetet; []
    Keywords : change; development; evolution; peripheral; Sweden; tourism.;

    Abstract : Tourism has reached almost all regions of the world and has had a notable growth in the peripheral regions of Europe. Attempts at tourism development in rural and peripheral areas have resulted in widely varying outcomes and have often been undertaken as a last resort by communities. READ MORE

  3. 3. Peripheral nerve function : metabolic features, clinical assessment, and heat shock protein 27

    Author : Kaveh Pourhamidi; Olov Rolandsson; Lars B Dahlin; Svein-Ivar Mellgren; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES;

    Abstract : Peripheral neuropathy is a common complication among patients with diabetes mellitus, but whether peripheral neuropathy is present in individuals with impaired glucose tolerance (IGT) is debatable. In order to identify and diagnose peripheral neuropathy correctly, it is important to evaluate diagnostic tools that can be implemented in routine health care to assess both large and small nerve fibre function. 4. 4. Optimal Use of Peripheral Vision

    Author : Karthikeyan Baskaran; Jörgen Gustafsson; Peter Unsbo; Staffan Carius; Michael Crossland; Linnéuniversitetet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; off-axis refractive errors; peripheral aberrations; aberrometers; central visual field loss; preferred retinal locus; eccentric viewing; absolute central scotoma; adaptive optics; eccentric correction.; Optometry; Optometri;

    Abstract : People who lose their central vision have to rely on their peripheral vision for all visual tasks. The ability to resolve fine details in the periphery is reduced due to retinal limitations and the optical aberrations arising from the use of off-axis vision. READ MORE

  5. 5. Myopia control and peripheral vision

    Author : Petros Papadogiannis; Linda Lundström; Peter Unsbo; Nicola Logan; KTH; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; myopia; peripheral vision; psychophysics;

    Abstract : The rapid rise in myopia prevalence has caused an urgent need for effectivemyopia control interventions. This thesis investigates the role of theperipheral optics of the human eye in myopia progression. It was initiallybelieved that the axial elongation of the myopic eye is caused only by thedefocus signals presented to the central retina. READ MORE
