   Abstract : Diaphragm fatigue and dysfunction are important components of acute and chronic respiratory pump failure. We lack knowledge about the nature of diaphragm fatigue and the pathophysiological and morphological changes that occur in the diaphragm after prolonged mechanical ventilation.
