  1. 1. Glacial Isostatic Adjustment : Inferences on properties and processes in the upper mantle from 3D dynamical modeling

    Author : Peter Schmidt; Björn Lund; Christoph Hieronymus; Laust Pedersen; Zdenek Martinec; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES;

    Abstract : Observations of glacial isostatic adjustment (GIA) offers a powerful window into the properties of the Earth's interior. Combined with dynamical modeling of the GIA process we can use the observations to infer properties such as the elastic structure of the lithosphere, the rheology of the mantle and changes in the stress conditions in the Earth. 2. 2. New methods for movement technique development in cross-country skiing using mathematical models and simulation

    Author : Marie Lund Ohlsson; Mårten Gulliksson; Lars-Erik Persson; Fredrik Ståhl; Peter Carlsson; Mittuniversitetet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Applied mathematics; Tillämpad matematik;

    Abstract : This Licentiate Thesis is devoted to the presentation and discussion of some new contributions in applied mathematics directed towards scientific computing in sports engineering. It considers inverse problems of biomechanical simulations with rigid body musculoskeletal systems especially in cross-country skiing. READ MORE

  3. 3. Included yet Excluded? : Conditions for Inclusive Teaching in Physical Education and Health

    Author : Peter Åström; Staffan Karp; Simon Wolming; Stefan Lund; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; Inclusive teaching; exclusion; physical education and health; motivation; Education; pedagogik;

    Abstract : This dissertation has examined the conditions for teachers who teach Physical Education and Health (PEH) in elementary school (age 11-12) and their opportunities to pursue inclusive teaching with the aim of reaching all pupils. The compilation thesis consists of four different articles and provides knowledge from the perspectives of pupils and teachers, but it also includes teaching and learning processes that were studied in situ. 4. 4. Lithium formate EPR dosimetry for accurate measurements of absorbed dose in radiotherapy

    Author : Emelie Adolfsson; Åsa Carlsson Tedgren; Eva Lund; Håkan Gustafsson; Sara Olsson; Gudrun Alm Carlsson; Peter Sharpe; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES;

    Abstract : Lithium formate has shown to be a material with properties suitable for electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) dosimetry, among them up to 7 times higher sensitivity compared to alanine, which is a well-established EPR detector material for dose determinations in radiotherapy.The aim of this thesis was to further investigate the properties of lithium formate and develop the dosimetry system towards applications in radiotherapy. 5. 5. Semiconductor-ionic Materials for Low Temperature Solid Oxide Fuel Cells

    Author : Muhammad Afzal; Andrew R. Martin; Peter Lund; Hab. Armelle Ringuede; KTH; []
    Keywords : Semiconductor-ionic materials; electrolyte-layer free fuel cell; low temperature solid oxide fuel cell; fuel to electricity conversion; Schottky junction; theoretical and experimental curves; Halvledar-joniska material; elektrolytskikt-fri bränslecell; lågtemperatur fastoxidbränslecell; bränsle till elomvandling; Schottky junction; teoretiska och experimentella kurvor; Energy Technology; Energiteknik;

    Abstract : Solid oxide fuel cell (SOFC) is considered as an attractive candidate for energy conversion within the fuel cell (FC) family due to several advantages including environment friendly, use of non-noble materials and fuel flexibility. However, due to high working temperatures, conventional SOFC faces many challenges relating to high operational and capital costs besides the limited selection of the FC materials and their compatibility issues.
