  1. 1. Assessment of Long-Term Losses in Prestressed Concrete Structures - Application for Nuclear Reactor Containments

    Author : Peter Lundqvist; Avdelningen för Konstruktionsteknik; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; KstrConcrete; Nuclear reactor containments; prestressed concrete; prestress losses; bonded tendons; creep; shrinkage; relaxation; prediction models; resonance frequency; acoustoelasticity.;

    Abstract : Most nuclear reactors, both in Sweden and worldwide, are enclosed by a prestressed concrete containment. The main purpose of the containment is to prevent any radioactive discharge to the environment in the event of a major internal accident. READ MORE

  2. 2. Competing Under Pressure : State Anxiety, Sports Performance and Assessment

    Author : Carolina Lundqvist; Peter Hassmén; Andrew Lane; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; competition; intra-individual variability; directional interpretations; emotions; sports performance; CSAI-2; psychometrics; Psychology; Psykologi; Samhällsvetenskap Humaniora;

    Abstract : Elevated levels of anxiety are a common response to stressful competitive sports situations, are known to moderate athletic performance and are referred to as an unpleasant emotional state associated with perceptions of situational threat. The empirical studies in this dissertation considered primarily psychometric, methodological and conceptual issues of relevance for the study of anxiety and sports performance. READ MORE

  3. 3. Healing of endosseous implants with different surface characteristics in grafted and non-grafted bone : clinical and experimental studies

    Author : Måns Jungner; Stefan Lundgren; Malou Hultcrantz; Carina Lundqvist; Peter Nilsson; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Dental implants; surface characteristics; bone graft; maxillary sinus; implant survival; oxidized surface; turned surface; sinus membrane elevation; bone formation; macrophages; osteocalcin; osteopontin; CD68; odontologi; Odontology;

    Abstract : Aims: This study uses radiological and clinical evaluations of the healing of endosseous titanium implants presented with different surface characteristics in the clinical situation (paper I-III) and experimentally to describe the early bone healing in maxillary sinus membrane elevation with and without the use of grafting material (paper IV).Material and methods: In paper I, 136 patients were treated with 394 dental implants – 199 were oxidized titanium implants (Nobel Biocare TiUnite) and 195 were turned titanium surface implants (Nobel Biocare Mark III). 4. 4. Modeling of Radio Emission from Supernovae : Application to Type Ia

    Author : Esha Kundu; Peter Lundqvist; Claes Fransson; Talvikki Hovatta; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Supernova; Circumstellar interaction; Radio emission; Astronomy; astronomi;

    Abstract : The interaction of supernova (SN) ejecta with the circumstellar medium (CSM) drives a strong shock wave into the CSM. These shocks are ideal places where effective particle acceleration and magnetic field amplification can take place. READ MORE

  5. 5. Radio emission from supernovae

    Author : Esha Kundu; Peter Lundqvist; Claes Fransson; Stephen Reynolds; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; supernovae; radio emission; hydrodynamical simulation; Astronomy; astronomi;

    Abstract : This thesis presents the modeling of radio and X-ray emissions from supernova (SN) shock fronts and hydrodynamical simulations of SN-circumstellar medium (CSM) interaction. The interaction of SN ejecta with the CSM drives a strong shock wave into the CSM. READ MORE
