2. Carbon Emissions from Western Siberian Inland Waters
Abstract : Inland waters (i.e. rivers, streams, lakes, ponds) emit carbon (C) into the atmosphere. The magnitude of global inland water C emission has been estimated to equal the global ocean C sink, thus making inland waters an important component of the global C cycle. READ MORE

3. The acquisition of contrast : a longitudinal investigation of initial s+plosive cluster development in Swedish children
Abstract : This Thesis explores the development of word-initial s+plosive consonant clusters in the speech of Swedish children between the ages of 1;6 and 4;6. Development in the word-initial consonant clusters is viewed as being determined by 1) the children’s ability to articulate the target sequence of consonants, 2) the level of understanding of which acoustic features in the adult model production are significant for the signalling of the intended distinction, and 3) the children’s ability to apply established production patterns only to productions where the acquired feature agrees with the adult target, to achieve a contrast between rival output forms. 4. Studies for Better Treatment of Patients with Glioma
Abstract : In Sweden annually over 500 people will be diagnosed with the malignant brain tumor glioma. They are graded from I-IV. The majority are glioblastoma (grade IV) (GBM), these being the most aggressive type. Median survival for those treated with standard of care is expected to be around 15 months. READ MORE

5. Studies on regulatory networks governing virulence gene transcription in Staphylococcus aureus
Abstract : Staphylococcus aureus pathogenicity is dependent on the coordinated action of a number of virulence factors and the expression of these virulence factors is determined by several global regulators. The main regulator seems to be agr but there are several additional regulators (mostly sarA homologues) involved that mainly act downstream of agr. READ MORE
