  1. 1. Tailored Properties of Ferromagnetic Thin Films

    Author : Peter Warnicke; Peter Svedlindh; Peter Grünberg; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; micromagnetics; domain wall; vortex; pinning potential; nanowire; spin dynamics; spin transfer torque; magnetic anisotropy; MFM; Permalloy; PMA; magnetic multilayer; Curie temperature; DMS; GaMnAs; magnetic bioseparation; Engineering physics; Teknisk fysik;

    Abstract : Magnetic thin films and patterned nanostructures have been studied with respect to their magnetic properties using SQUID-magnetometry, magnetic force microscopy, electrical measurements, and micromagnetic calculations. Properties of vortex domain walls, trapped in Permalloy nanowires with artificial constrictions, were investigated experimentally and by numerical calculations. READ MORE

  3. 3. Magnetization Dynamics in Ferromagnetic Thin Films : Evaluation of Different Contributions to Damping in Co2FeAl and FeCo Film Structures

    Author : Serkan Akansel; Peter Svedlindh; Olof Karis; Erik Wahlström; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; spintronics; Gilbert damping parameter; magnetization dynamics; ferromagnetic resonance; Heusler alloys; magnetic thin films; Physics with spec. in Atomic; Molecular and Condensed Matter Physics; Fysik med inriktning mot atom- molekyl- och kondenserande materiens fysik;

    Abstract : Static and dynamic magnetic properties of Co2FeAl and Fe65Co35 alloys have been investigated. Co2FeAl films were deposited at different temperatures and the deposition parameters were optimized with respect to structural and magnetic properties. As a result, a film with B2 crystalline phase was obtained without any post-annealing process. READ MORE

  4. 4. Structural Studies of Mn-X (X=Al, Bi): Permanent Magnetic Materials without Rare Earth Metals

    Author : Hailiang Fang; Martin Häggblad Sahlberg; Peter Svedlindh; Samrand Shafeie; Linda Udby; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Synthesis; Magnetism; Diffraction.; Chemistry with specialization in Inorganic Chemistry; Kemi med inriktning mot oorganisk kemi;

    Abstract : How to generate and use electricity in a more efficient way is a major challenge for humankind. In this context, permanent magnets play an important role within a very broad range of electric power applications. The strongest magnets used today are mainly based on alloys that contain rare-earth metals, which are neither economical nor sustainable. READ MORE

  5. 5. Tunable Magnetic Properties of Transition Metal Compounds

    Author : Solveig Felton; Per Nordblad; Peter Svedlindh; John Chapman; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Magnetic properties; Transition metal compounds; Magnetic structure; Domain structure; SQUID-magnetometry; MFM; Magnetism; Magnetism;

    Abstract : The magnetic properties of transition metal compounds have been studied using SQUID-magnetometry, magnetic force microscopy and Lorentz transmission electron microscopy. New magnetic materials have been found and their magnetic properties have been determined. How the magnetic properties of a material can be changed through e.g. READ MORE
