  1. 1. Pharmaceutical Nanocomposites : Structure–Mobility–Functionality Relationships in the Amorphous State

    Author : Joel Hellrup; Denny Mahlin; Göran Alderborn; László Fábián; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; amorphous; pharmaceutical composites; solid state; structure; molecular mobility; spray-drying; freeze-drying; moisture sorption; physical stability; compression; Farmaceutisk vetenskap; Pharmaceutical Science;

    Abstract : Amorphous materials are found in pharmaceutical formulations both as excipients and active ingredients. Indeed, these formulations are becoming an essential strategy for incorporating drugs into well-performing solid dosage forms. READ MORE

  2. 2. Application of Artificial Gel Antibodies for the Detection and Quantification of Proteins in Biological Fluids

    Author : Nasim Ghasemzadeh; Fred Nyberg; Dom M. Desiderio; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Pharmaceutical chemistry; Farmaceutisk kemi; Pharmaceutical biochemistry; Farmaceutisk biokemi; Farmaceutisk vetenskap; Pharmaceutical Science;

    Abstract : The molecular-imprinting method has previously been used for the synthesis of artificial gel antibodies, highly selective for various proteins. In present study, we have synthesized artificial gel antibodies against haemoglobin, albumin and different forms of growth hormone with the aim to develop a simple and rapid procedure to measure the concentration of these protein biomarkers in samples of clinical interest. Abstract : The mevalonate pathway is an important biosynthetic pathway, found in all cells of virtually all known pro- as well as eukaryotic organisms. This thesis is an investigation into the use of two drugs, originally developed for different applications, but both affecting the mevalonate pathway, in to models of fracture repair. READ MORE

  4. 4. Process-induced disorder of pharmaceutical materials : Mechanisms and quantification of disorder

    Author : Samaneh Pazesh; Göran Alderborn; Jonas Berggren; Niklas Sandler; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Milling; Comminution; Powder flow; Amorphisation; Raman spectroscopy; Atomic force microscopy; Plastic stiffness; Elastic stiffness; Pharmaceutical Science; Farmaceutisk vetenskap;

    Abstract : One of the most important prerequisites in the drug development is to attain a reproducible and robust product in terms of its nature, and its chemical and physical properties. This can be challenging, since the crystalline form of drugs and excipients can be directly transformed into the amorphous one during normal pharmaceutical processing, referred to as process-induced amorphisation or process-induced disorder.
