21. Cytochrome P450 Enzymes in the Metabolism of Vitamin D3
Abstract : A cytochrome P450 enzyme in pig kidney that catalyzes the hydroxylations of vitamin D3 and C27-sterols was cloned. DNA sequence analysis of the cDNA revealed that the enzyme belongs to the CYP27 family. The recombinant kidney CYP27A enzyme catalyzed the 25-hydroxylation of vitamin D3 and the 27-oxygenation of C27-sterols. READ MORE

22. Physiologically based pharmacokinetic modeling in risk assessment - Development of Bayesian population methods
Abstract : In risk assessment of risk chemicals, variability in susceptibility in the population is an important aspect. The health hazard of a pollutant is related to the internal exposure to the chemical, i.e. the target dose, rather than the external exposure. READ MORE

23. Estimation of Dosing Strategies for Individualisation
Abstract : To increase the proportion of patients with successful drug treatment, dose individualisation on the basis of one or several patient characteristics, a priori individualisation, and/or on the basis of feedback observations from the patient following an initial dose, a posteriori individualisation, is an option. Efficient tools in optimising individualised dosing strategies are population models describing pharmacokinetics (PK) and the relation between pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics (PK/PD). READ MORE

24. Epidemiological and neurobiological evidence for misuse of anabolic-androgenic steroids
Abstract : Misuse of anabolic-androgenic steroids (AAS), is attributed to elite athletes and body builders. The attentive involvement of AAS in acts of violence seen in society has raised interest to evaluate the importance of social, psychological and neurobiological mechanisms that underlie the psychiatric states associated with onset of controlled misuse, its maintenance, and via abuse its transition to addiction. 25. Studies on the level of substance P and calcitonin gene-related peptide in cerebrospinal fluid of pregnant women and patients with chronic pain and in rat brain after spinal cord injury : Special reference to analytical aspects of neuropeptides
Abstract : Substance P (SP) and calcitonin gene-related peptide (CGRP) are sensory peptides known to be involved innociception and inflammatory processes. It is well demonstrated that the two peptides can be released from spinal cord neurons during inflammation and chronic pain induced by peripheral nerve injury. READ MORE
