1. Pharmacometrics Modelling in Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus : Implications on Study Design and Diabetes Disease Progression
Abstract : Pharmacometric modelling is widely used in many aspects related to type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM), for instance in the anti-diabetes drug development, and in quantifying the disease progression of T2DM.The aim of this thesis were to improve the design of early phase anti-diabetes drug development studies with the focus on the power to identify mechanism of drug action (MoA), and to characterize and quantify the progression from prediabetes to overt diabetes, both the natural progression and the progression with diet and exercise interventions, using pharmacometrics modelling. 2. PET imaging of beta-cell mass
Abstract : A hallmark of diabetes is the progressive loss of the beta-cell mass (BCM) and function. Most of the diagnostic methods for diabetes are mostly reflective of the beta-cell function, whereas current methodologies for studying the beta-cell mass are limited to post-mortem biopsies or highly invasive methods. 3. Semi-mechanistic models of glucose homeostasis and disease progression in type 2 diabetes
Abstract : Type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) is a metabolic disorder characterized by consistently high blood glucose, resulting from a combination of insulin resistance and reduced capacity of β-cells to secret insulin. While the exact causes of T2DM is yet unknown, obesity is known to be a major risk factor as well as co-morbidity for T2DM. READ MORE

4. [68Ga]Exendin-4: Bench-to-Bedside : PET molecular imaging of the GLP-1 receptor for diabetes and cancer
Abstract : Diabetes epidemic is underway. Beta cell dysfunction (BCF) and loss of beta cell mass (BCM) are known to be key events in its progression. Currently, there are no reliable techniques to estimate or follow the loss of BCM, in vivo. READ MORE

5. Refill Adherence to Long-Term Drug Treatment with a Focus on Asthma/COPD Medication
Abstract : Most patients are non-adherent with their medication sometimes, i.e. that they do not always use their medicines as prescribed. This might result in both under- and overuse and can lead to therapy failure, resulting in both unnecessary suffering and high costs. READ MORE
