  1. 1. Transition in Particle-laden Flows

    University dissertation from Stockholm : KTH Royal Institute of Technology

    Author : Joy Klinkenberg; KTH.; [2013]
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Transition; modal analysis; non-modal analysis; multi-phase flow; particle-laden; heavy particles; light particles;

    Abstract : This thesis presents the study of laminar to turbulent transition of particle laden flows. When a flow becomes turbulent, the drag increases one order of magnitude compared to a laminar flow, therefore, much research is devoted to understand and influence the transition. READ MORE

  2. 2. Phase Diagrams, Microstructure and Phase Separation in Alkyl Glucoside Systems

    University dissertation from Johan Reimer, Chemical Centre, Lund University

    Author : Johan Reimer; Lunds universitet.; Lund University.; [2003]
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Fysikalisk kemi; Physical chemistry; micellar network; NMR diffusometry; microemulsion; microstructure; phase diagram; phase separation; phase behaviour; alkyl glucoside; sugar surfactant;

    Abstract : Popular Abstract in Swedish Tensider, eller amfifiler, är molekyler som består av en hydrofil (”vattenälskande”) och en hydrofob (”vattenskyende”) del. Denna dualistiska karaktär ger tensider speciella egenskaper av vilken den viktigaste är att den självaggregerar i en del lösningsmedel, som i de allra flesta tillämpningar är vatten. READ MORE

  3. 3. Stability analysis of channel flow laden with small particles

    University dissertation from Stockholm : KTH Royal Institute of Technology

    Author : Joy Klinkenberg; KTH.; [2011]
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Transition; modal analysis; non-modal analysis; Direct Numerical Simulations; multi-phase flow; heavy particles; light particles; particle-laden;

    Abstract : This thesis deals with the stability of particle laden flows. Both modal and non-modal linear analyses have been performed on two-way coupled particleladen flows, where particles are considered spherical, solid and either heavy or light. When heavy particles are considered, only Stokes drag is used as interaction term. READ MORE

  4. 4. Phase Transitions in Large Oscillator Lattices

    University dissertation from Norbergsgatan 5A, 223 54 Lund

    Author : Per Östborn; Lunds universitet.; Lund University.; [2003]
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Matematisk och allmän teoretisk fysik; thermodynamics; statistical physics; phase transition; limit cycle oscillator; frequency entrainment; synchronization; sinus node; classical mechanics; Mathematical and general theoretical physics; arrhythmia; gravitation; quantum mechanics; relativity; klassisk mekanik; kvantmekanik; relativitet; statistisk fysik; termodynamik; Fysicumarkivet A:2003:Östborn;

    Abstract : Popular Abstract in Swedish Denna avhandling handlar om stora nätverk av oscillatorer. En oscillator är ett system som beter sig periodiskt. Speciellt handlar avhandlingen om oscillatorer som har ett typiskt beteende. En egenskap som varje sådan oscillator har är den naturliga frekvens med vilken beteendet upprepas. READ MORE

  5. 5. Protein-Surfactant Interactions Phase Behaviour and Phase Structure

    University dissertation from Physical Chemistry 1, Lund University

    Author : Anna Karin Morén; Lunds universitet.; Lund University.; [1999]
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Phase equilibria; Protein-surfactant interactions; Gel; Precipitate; Solution; Lysozyme; b-lactoglobulin; Ovalbumin; Bovine serum albumin; Dodecyltrimethylammonium chloride; Sodium alkylsulphates; NMR; Cryo-TEM; Physical chemistry; Fysikalisk kemi;

    Abstract : Protein-surfactant interactions in water are investigated by following the phase equilibria for protein-surfactant pairs whose constituents carry both opposite and the same sign of charge. The concentration ranges studied are: 0-20 wt% protein, 0-20 wt% surfactant, and 80-100 wt% water. READ MORE
