    Abstract : The chemical elicitor methyl jasmonate (MeJA) could replace insecticides in Europe and Asia for protection of young conifers against the pine weevil (Hylobius abietis). This thesis mainly focuses on the effects of MeJA treatment on chemical defenses of conifers from seedling batches with documented field resistance. READ MORE

  2. 2. Efflux of Sucrose from Mesophyll Cells during Apoplastic Phloem Loading in Pea

    Author : Chana Opaskornkul; Jim McDonald; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; fysiologisk botanik; Physiological Botany;

    Abstract : Efflux of sucrose from photosynthesizing mesophyll cells into the apoplastic space, during apoplastic phloem loading, was investigated using suspension of protoplasts and inside-out plasma membrane vesicles isolated from mature leaves of in Pisum sativum L. cv. Fenomen. READ MORE

  3. 3. New insights into carbon transport and incorporation to wood

    Author : Miramirhossein Mahboubi; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES;

    Abstract : Wood formation in trees requires carbon import from the photosynthetic tissues. In several tree species the majority of this carbon is derived from sucrose transported in the phloem. READ MORE

  4. 4. Fungal molecular ecology in boreal forests and challenges associated with unidentified environmental DNA sequences

    Author : Kerri Kluting; Anna Rosling; Martin Ryberg; Sara Branco; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; amplicon sequence variant ASV ; Archaeorhizomycetes; environmental DNA sequencing; high-throughput sequencing; integrative taxonomy; pine forest; podzol soil profile; Pucciniomycotina; Tomicus piniperda; voucherless specimens; Biology with specialization in Evolutionary Genetics; Biologi med inriktning mot evolutionär genetik;

    Abstract : Many fungi are characteristically difficult to observe and collect, making the process of documenting the world’s fungal diversity challenging. The vast majority of fungal species are undescribed. READ MORE

  5. 5. Insect-plant interactions within cultivar mixtures : volatile plant communication as an underlying mechanism

    Author : Sokha Kheam; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet; []
    Keywords : LANTBRUKSVETENSKAPER; AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES;

    Abstract : Promoting genotypic diversity of crops via cultivar mixtures presents a promising strategy to sustainably control insect pests and diseases, and thereby enhance yield. However, the underlying mechanisms responsible for reduced pest performance in cultivar mixtures remain unexplored. READ MORE
