  1. 16. Injectable Calcium Phosphate Bone Substitute In Distal Radial Fractures

    Author : Philippe Kopylov; Lund Ortopedi; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Norian SRS; Bone substitute; radius fracture; injectable; calcium phosphate; Surgery; orthopaedics; traumatology; Kirurgi; ortopedi; traumatologi;

    Abstract : Fractures of the distal end of the radius are common and occur in many different forms. The long-term results after conservative treatment of fracture of the distal end of the radius in younger adults with special reference to degenerative changes and function are investigated in 76 patients (Paper I). 2. 17. Organic acids in root exudates and soil solutions. Importance to calcicole and calcifuge behaviour of plants

    Author : Lena Ström; Institutionen för naturgeografi och ekosystemvetenskap; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; nutrient-solubilisation; iron; phosphate; nutrient-limitations; citrate; oxalate; organic acids; root exudation; acidifuge; Calcicole; calcifuge; adaptations.; Plant ecology; Växtekologi;

    Abstract : Many vascular plant species are unable to colonise calcareous sites, the floristic composition of adjacent limestone and acid silicate soils differing markedly. The inability of these 'calcifuge' species to establish themselves and grow on limestone soil appears to mainly be related to their low capacity for solubilising and absorbing phosphate and/or iron from such soils. 3. 18. Functional genomics of the Baltic Sea cyanobacterium Nodularia spumigena in relation to nitrogen fixation, heterocyst differentiation and toxin production

    Author : Simina Vintila; Rehab El-Shehawy; Peter Lindblad; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; cyanobacteria; Nodularia; nitrogen fixation; heterocyst; nitrogenase; ammonium; phosphate; nodularin; Baltic Sea; Plant physiology; Växtfysiologi; Plant Physiology; växtfysiologi;

    Abstract : Nodularia spumigena is a filamentous, heterocystous cyanobacterium that dominates the annual, toxic cyanobacterial blooms in the Baltic Sea. The blooms are believed to have increased in recent years, due to eutrophication by phosphate and/or nitrogen. Toxicity of these blooms is well-documented and attributed to the hepatotoxin nodularin. 4. 19. Solubility and Surface Complexation Studies of Apatites

    Author : Åsa Bengtsson; Staffan Sjöberg; Per Persson; Lars Lövgren; Laurent Charlet; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; apatite; dissolution; calcium; phosphate; fluoride; goethite; surface complexation; speciation; outer-sphere complexation; FTIR; XPS; potentiometry; Chemistry; Kemi;

    Abstract : Apatites are a diverse class of phosphate minerals that are important in a great variety of natural and industrial processes. They are, for example, used as raw material in fertiliser production and in the remediation of metal-contaminated soils. READ MORE

  5. 20. Enhancing material and biological properties of calcium phosphate bone substitute

    Author : Christopher Camire; Lund Ortopedi; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; materialteknik; Non-metallic mineral technology; Icke-metallisk mineralteknik; Biotechnology; Bioteknik; Materiallära; Material technology; Technological sciences; Teknik; Naturvetenskap; reumatologi; Surgery; orthopaedics; traumatology; Kirurgi; ortopedi; traumatologi; Natural science; muskelsystem; Skelett; muscle system; rheumatology locomotion; Bone Substitute; Calcium Phosphate; Skeleton; Medicin människa och djur ; Medicine human and vertebrates ; Osteoconductivity; Silicon; Mechanical Properties; Crystallinity; Reactivity; Calorimetry; Hydroxyapatite;

    Abstract : Calcium phosphate materials (CaPs) have proven biocompatible and useful in clinical situations. One CaP showing promise in the clinic is alpha phase tricalcium phosphate ([alpha]-TCP). [alpha]-TCP in powder form can be hydrated and undergoes a reaction resulting in calcium deficient hydroxyapatite (CDHA). READ MORE
