  1. 1. Monitoring the cellular phosphate status in bloom-forming cyanobacteria of the Baltic Sea

    Author : Sara Jonasson; Erik Söderbäck; Hans C. P. Matthjis; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; cyanobacteria; Baltic Sea; phosphorus; cyanotoxin; nodularin; Plant physiology; Växtfysiologi;

    Abstract : In the Baltic Sea dense cyanobacterial blooms occur regularly during late summer. Since the dominant bloom-forming cyanobacteria, Nodularia spp. and Apanizomenon spp. are capable of fixing atmospheric dinitrogen, the macronutrient predominantly limiting their growth is phosphorus. Abstract : This work focuses on the design, synthesis, characterization, and application projections of low-coordinated heavy pnictogen-containing (described by the generic letter E, hence E=C) phosphaalkenes (P=C) and arsaalkenes (As=C), with emphasis on the E=C group motifs. The work aims to understand their functional and modular character, reactivity, and potential applications by stabilizing, isolating, and characterizing these species in low-coordination environments. 3. 3. Phosphorus recycling from wastewater to agriculture using reactive filter media

    Author : Victor Cucarella Cabañas; Gunno Renman; Dan Berggren Kleja; KTH; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Filtra P; phosphorus; Polonite; recycling; sorption; wollastonite; Water in nature and society; Vatten i natur och samhälle;

    Abstract : This thesis focused on testing the suitability of reactive filter media used for phosphorus (P) removal from wastewater as fertilizers, thus recycling P to agriculture. The work compared the P sorption capacity of several materials in order to assess their suitability as a source of P for plants. READ MORE

  4. 4. Ash transformation in thermochemical conversion of different biomass resources with special focus on phosphorus

    Author : Ali Hedayati; Marcus Öhman; Christoffer Boman; Kentaro Umeki; Anita Pettersson; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; agricultural biomass; forest residues; sewage sludge; ash transformation; release; potassium; phosphorus; combustion; gasification; bio charcoal; phosphorus recovery; Energy Engineering; Energiteknik;

    Abstract : A great potential exists for increasing the use of bioenergy in thermochemical processes by utilizing agricultural biomass, forest residues, and sewage sludge that have high availability. Many of these biomass assortments have high ash contents with relatively high concentrations of ash-forming elements such as potassium (K), calcium (Ca), silicon (Si), and phosphorus (P). READ MORE

  5. 5. Phosphorus Centers in π-conjugated Systems

    Author : Elisabet Öberg; Sascha Ott; Koop Lammertsma; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; phosphorus; phosphaalkene; phosphole; alkyne; π-conjugation; molecular electronics; Kemi; Chemistry;

    Abstract : Single-molecular electronics and organic material electronics are expanding research fields that ultimately aim for a vast variety of different applications, ranging from organic light-emitting diodes, to novel ways to improve the performance and decrease the size of electronics components. To achieve these goals, research has to be focused both on the development of functional molecules, but also on device fabrication. READ MORE
