  1. 1. Organic Azides : Functional Molecules and Materials

    Author : Giampiero Proietti; Peter Dinér; Per I. Arvidsson; KTH; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; perfluorinated Aromatic Azide; Photoactivatable; fluorophores; aggregation-induced emission; sulfonimidamides; sulfoximes; chiral auxilary; organogel; azides reduction; Ni-B; Kemi; Chemistry;

    Abstract : The work presented in this thesis stems from the chemistry of the azido group, and more specifically from the unique reactivity of perfluorinated aromatic azides and how to use this reactivity to access new types of molecules to enable new applications in asymmetric synthesis and materials.In the first section of this thesis, a photoactivatable fluorescence probe is presented, where the non-luminescent azide was activated via a UV-light-promoted intramolecular N–H insertion reaction forming a fluorescence emitter. 2. 2. Biological Insights from Single-Particle Tracking in Living Cells

    Author : Arash Sanamrad; Johan Elf; Måns Ehrenberg; Achillefs Kapanidis; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; single-particle tracking; intracellular diffusion; nucleoid exclusion; transcription-translation coupling; antibiotics; Biology with specialization in Molecular Biotechnology; Biologi med inriktning mot molekylär bioteknik;

    Abstract : Single-particle tracking is a technique that allows for quantitative analysis of the localization and movement of particles. In this technique, trajectories are constructed by determining and connecting the positions of individual particles from consecutive images. READ MORE

  3. 3. Modulating Sirtuin Activity - Design, Synthesis and Evaluation of Sirtuin 2 Inhibitors

    Author : Tina Seifert; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Sirtuin; SIRT2; Inhibitors; Chroman-4-ones; Chromones; Benzothiadiazine-1; 1-dioxides; Saccharin; Scaffold; Structure-activity relationship; Antiproliferative properties; Binding site; Homology modeling; Photoaffinity labeling; Diazirine; Mass spectrometry;

    Abstract : Sirtuins (SIRTs) are NAD+-dependent lysine deacetylating enzymes targeting histones and a multitude of non-histone proteins. The SIRTs have been related to important cellular processes such as gene expression, cell proliferation, apoptosis and metabolism. They are proposed to be involved in the pathogenesis of e.g. READ MORE
