  1. 1. Time-Resolved Photoemission Electron Microscopy: Development and Applications

    Author : Lukas Wittenbecher; NanoLund: Centre for Nanoscience; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; PEEM; time-resolved PEEM; ultrafast optics; pulse shaping; plasmonics; semiconductor nanowires; hot electrons; ultrafast microscopy; charge carrier relaxation;

    Abstract : Time-resolved photoemission electron microscopy (TR-PEEM) belongs to a class of experimental techniquescombining the spatial resolution of electron-based microscopy with the time resolution of ultrafast opticalspectroscopy. This combination provides insight into fundamental processes on the nanometer spatial andfemto/picosecond time scale, such as charge carrier transport in semiconductors or collective excitations ofconduction band electrons at metal surfaces. 2. 2. III–V Nanowire Surfaces

    Author : Martin Hjort; NanoLund: Centre for Nanoscience; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; low energy electron microscopy; scanning tunneling spectroscopy; scanning tunneling microscopy; surface; III–V semiconductor materials; nanowire; photoemission electron microscopy; photoelectron spectroscopy; Fysicumarkivet A:2014:Hjort;

    Abstract : This dissertation deals with the geometric and electronic structure of surfaces on III–V semiconductor nanowires (NWs). NWs made of InAs, GaAs, and InP have been studied using scanning tunneling microscopy/spectroscopy (STM/S), low energy electron microscopy (LEEM), photoemission electron microscopy (PEEM), and x-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS). 3. 3. Photoemission Electron Microscopy for Ultrafast Nano-Optics - Femtoseconds to Attoseconds

    Author : Erik Mårsell; Synkrotronljusfysik; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Nanorice; Spatiotemporal imaging; Attosecond pulses; Fysicumarkivet A:2016:Mårsell; Nanowires; Silver nanostructures; Femtosecond laser pulses; PEEM; Plasmonics; Ultrafast nano-optics;

    Abstract : Ultrafast nano-optics is a new and quickly evolving research field centred around the control, manipulation, and application of light on a nanometre and femtosecond scale. This can lead to improved electro-optical devices, more sensitive spectroscopy, and real-time control of chemical reactions. READ MORE

  4. 4. Characterization of Surfaces Relevant to Nanotechnology

    Author : Emelie Hilner; Synkrotronljusfysik; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; nanotechnology; surface science; semiconductors; scanning tunneling microscopy; spectroscopic photoemission and low energy electron microscopy; low energy electron diffraction;

    Abstract : In this thesis investigations of the structure and dynamics of semiconductor surfaces relevant for the synthesis of nanostructures are presented. The studies were performed using Scanning Tunneling Microscopy (STM), Low Energy Electron Diffraction (LEED), and Spectroscopic PhotoEmission and Low Energy Electron Microcopy (SPELEEM). READ MORE

  5. 5. Time-resolved plasmonics in designed nanostructures

    Author : Eleonora Lorek; Atomfysik; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Plasmon; Nanostructure fabrication; High-order harmonic generation; Photoemission electron microscopy; Focused ion beam; Fysicumarkivet A:2016:Lorek;

    Abstract : A metal nanoparticle can be considered as consisting of a base of positive ion cores and a sea of free electrons. When the free electrons are displaced, for example, by an incident electric field, a restoring force acts on the electrons. The electrons may then oscillate back and forth until equilibrium is reached. READ MORE
