  1. 21. Multi-electron processes in atoms and molecules - Experimental investigations by coincidence spectroscopy

    Author : Jonas Andersson; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES;

    Abstract : This thesis presents studies on multi-electron processes in atoms and molecules initiated by single-photon absorption. The experimental techniques used for these studies rely on synchrotron radiation offered at large scale user facilities, and a magnetic bottle spectrometer. READ MORE

  2. 22. Optimization of High-order Harmonic Generation for Attosecond Science

    Author : Robin Weissenbilder; Atomfysik; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; High-order Harmonic Generation; Attosecond Pulse Train; attosecond dynamics; photoelectron interferometry; Quantum state tomography; Phase matching; Fysicumarkivet A:2023:Weissenbilder;

    Abstract : High-order harmonic generation is a highly nonlinear, though inherently inefficient, process which can lead to emission of coherent, broadband extreme ultraviolet radiation in the form of attosecond pulses. Attosecond pulses are crucial for experiments investigating photoionization dynamics on the femto- and attosecond timescales. READ MORE

  3. 23. Electronic Structure and Core-Hole Dynamics of Ozone : Synchrotron-radiation based studies and ab-initio calculations

    Author : Karoline Wiesner; Svante Svensson; Olle Björneholm; Robert E. Continetti; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Physics; Fysik; Physics; Fysik;

    Abstract : The electronic structure of the ozone molecule O3 has been studied with spectroscopy techniques and computations. The investigation was focused on O3 in a core-hole state. The electronic configuration and the nuclear dynamics have been found to be highly correlated. READ MORE

  4. 24. Quantum and quantum-classical calculations of core-ionized molecules in varied environments

    Author : Tuomas Löytynoja; Hans Ågren; Jukka Tulkki; KTH; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Electron spectroscopy; UPS; XPS; photodissociation; binding energy; ionization potential; computational; electronic structure; self-consistent field; DFT; QM MM; gas phase; liquid; solution; physisorption; metallic surface; polymer; charge transfer; Teoretisk kemi och biologi; Theoretical Chemistry and Biology;

    Abstract : Computational quantum chemistry methods have been applied in two particular cases: to provide insight to photoionization induced fragmentation of HgBr2 and HgCl2 molecules, and to study core-electron binding energies and chemical shifts of molecules in liquid, surface adsorbed and polymeric environments in the framework of quantum mechanics/molecular mechanics (QM/MM). In the photodissociation studies the computational work is based on the relativistic Dirac equation as the systems present strong spin-orbit interaction affecting the fragmentation processes. 5. 25. Probing Electron Correlation on the Attosecond Timescale

    Author : Diego Guenot; Atomfysik; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Fysicumarkivet A:2014:Guénot;

    Abstract : This thesis describes how photoemission stimulated by an attosecond pulse train (APT) can be used to extract information on electron correlation in simple quantum systems such as atoms. The emission of the electron by an APT induces a reorganization of the electrons remaining in the ion core. READ MORE
