  1. 1. Analysis of quality characteristics of radiotherapeutic photon beams

    Author : Bo Nilsson; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : Photon therapy; lepton contamination; photon contamination; surface dose; perturbation effects;

    Abstract : The lepton and photon contamination of high energy photon beams for radiation therapy has been investigated computationally and experimentally. The contaminating particles will effect the quality of the beam by increasing the surface dose, degrading the uniformity of the beam, broadening the penumbra, and increasing the energy imparted outside the useful beam. 2. 2. Two-Photon Excited Fluorescence Depolarisation : Experimental and Theoretical Development

    Author : Linus Ryderfors; Emad Mukhtar; Lennart B.-Å. Johansson; Yehudi K. Levine; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Two-photon excitation; Fluorescence; Fluorescence depolarisation; Fluorescence anisotropy; Time-correlated single photon counting; Gold nanoparticles; Rotational diffusion; Excited state symmetry; Extended Förster theory; Orientation correlation functions; Donor-donor energy migration DDEM ; Chemical physics; Kemisk fysik;

    Abstract : We have studied fundamental aspects of time-resolved two-photon excited fluorescence depolarisation. The thesis presents experimental as well as theoretical progress. READ MORE

  3. 3. Photon Upconversion in Heavily Doped Semiconductors

    Author : Kilian Mergenthaler; Fasta tillståndets fysik; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; III-V semiconductor materials; nanowires; photoluminescence; Photon upconversion; semiconductors; doping; Fysicumarkivet A:2016:Mergenthaler;

    Abstract : In this thesis the luminescence properties of highly doped semiconductors are studied with focus on degenerately n-doped InP. It is demonstrated how photoluminescence measurements on degenerately doped semiconductors allow an estimation of the doping concentration without need for electrical contacts. READ MORE

  4. 4. Photon migration in tissue : laser induced fluorescence for cancer diagnostics and influence of optical properties on microvascular Doppler spectroscopy

    Author : Henrik Nilsson; Othar Svaasand Svansand; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICINE; MEDICIN;

    Abstract : Laser induced flourescence (LIF) is an "optical biopsy" method, based on the selective accumulation of fluorophores in neoplastic tissue. Two recently developed, non-photosensitizing tumor seeking carotenoporphyrins were assessed regarding tumor selectivity, and biodistribution, in experimental animals. READ MORE
