  1. 11. Non-Coherent Photon Upconversion on Dye-Sensitized Nanostructured ZrO2 Films for Efficient Solar Light Harvesting

    Author : Jonas Sandby Lissau; Ana Morandeira; James M. Gardner; Leif Hammarström; Josef Michl; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; photon upconversion; triplet-triplet annihilation; DSSC; dye-sensitized; delayed fluorescence; photophysics; solar energy conversion; nanostructured surface; energy migration; Kemi med inriktning mot kemisk fysik; Chemistry with specialization in Chemical Physics;

    Abstract : Photon upconversion by sensitized triplet–triplet annihilation (UC-STTA) is a photophysical process that facilitates the conversion of two low-energy photons into a single high-energy photon. A low-energy photon is absorbed by a sensitizer molecule that produces a triplet excited state which is transferred to an emitter molecule. READ MORE

  2. 12. Light for a brighter morrow : paving the way for sustainable light-emitting devices

    Author : Petter Lundberg; Ludvig Edman; Thomas Wågberg; Magnus Jonsson; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Artificial Light; Organic Electronics; Photophysics; Light-emitting Electrochemical Cells; Thermally Activated Delayed Fluorescence; Host-Guest; Sustainability; Solution Processing; fysik; Physics;

    Abstract : We live in an artificially lit world, where light enhances our productivity and improves our quality of life. Today our appetite for light is stronger than ever, and emerging light-emitting technologies do not just replace the classical incandescent light bulb, they also open up for a new world of applications. 3. 13. DNA Interaction Dynamics of Ruthenium(II) Complexes

    Author : Fredrik Westerlund; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; fluorescence; ruthenium; polarized spectroscopy; threading; sequence selectivity; photophysics; binding kinetics; DNA; intercalation;

    Abstract : DNA-binding of small synthetic ligands is of great importance in a number of different applications, from medicine to molecular biology. This thesis focuses on interactions between DNA and ruthenium(II) complexes, in particular the dimers [µ-bidppz(L)4Ru2]4+ (L=1,10-phenanthroline (P) or L=2,2-bipyridine (B)). READ MORE

  4. 14. Exploring Electron Transfer Dynamics of Novel Dye Sensitized Photocathodes : Towards Solar Cells and Solar Fuels

    Author : Lei Zhang; Leif Hammarström; Yiying Wu; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Electron transfer; Laser spectroscopy; Femtosecond spectroscopy; Transient absorption; NiO; DSSCs; DSSFDs; Charge separation; Solar energy conversion; Nanosecond photolysis; Photophysics; Kemi med inriktning mot kemisk fysik; Chemistry with specialization in Chemical Physics;

    Abstract : The design of dyes for NiO-based dye-sensitized solar cells (DSSCs) has drawn attention owing to their potential applications in photocatalysis and because they are indispensable for the development of tandem dye-sensitized solar cells. The understanding of the electron transfer mechanisms and dynamics is beneficial to guide further dye design and further improve the performance of photocathode in solar cells and solar fuel devices.
