  2. 7. Structure-Property Relationships in Chromophore-Organogel Assemblies: Consequences for Triplet-Triplet Annihilation and Singlet Fission

    Author : Deise Fernanda Barbosa de Mattos; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; photophysics; singlet fission; triplet-triplet annihilation upconversion; self-assembly; organogel.;

    Abstract : Better utilization of the solar spectrum by absorbing photons that are currently wasted by solar cells, due to the bandgap mismatch with the semiconductor, will help to improve the device efficiency. Two low energy photons can be upconverted to one high energy photon through triplet-triplet annihilation (TTA-UC); one high energy photon can be down converted to form two charge carriers through singlet fission (SF). 3. 8. Photon Upconversion through Triplet-Triplet Annihilation: Towards Higher Efficiency and Solid State Applications

    Author : Damir Dzebo; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; solar energy conversion; triplet-triplet annihilation; energy transfer; fluorescence anisotropy; anti-stokes; photon upconversion; excited state; porphyrins; photochemistry; photophysics; delayed fluorescence; dendrimers; anthracene; oligomers; spectroscopy;

    Abstract : The sun is the only renewable energy source that can accommodate humanity’s energyneeds today and in the foreseeable future. The sunlight reaching the planet’s surfaceis filtrated through the atmosphere, reducing its UV-light intensity in the 300-400 nmrange, which indeed can be harmful to life as we know it in too large doses. 4. 9. Shining Light on Molecules : Electron Transfer Processes in Model Systems for Solar Energy Conversion Investigated by Transient Absorption Spectroscopy

    Author : Jens Föhlinger; Leif Hammarström; Davidsson Jan; Benjamin Dietzek; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; photophysics; photoinduced electron transfer; transient absorption spectroscopy; laser spectroscopy; solar energy conversion; p-type DSSCs; Charge separation; recombination; mesoporous NiO;

    Abstract : In the recent years, solar energy conversion has attracted a huge research interest due to the potential application for limiting the greenhouse effect. In many solar cells and solar fuel cells, understanding of charge transfer (CT) and recombination is important for future improvement of the overall efficiency. READ MORE

  5. 10. Structure-Property Relationships of Iron N-Heterocyclic Carbene Complexes : Synthesis, Characterization and Application

    Author : Valtýr Freyr Hlynsson; Centrum för analys och syntes; []

    Abstract : Resulting from the general availability of first-row transition metals, compared to their second- and third-row counterparts, photosensitizers (PSs) based on metals like iron have gained interest as candidates to enable photochemistry from solar energy, a largely underutilized energy source. Iron complexes equivalent to other metal complexes, currently being used as PS, do lack some of the advantageous properties required to challenge the established PSs. READ MORE
