  1. 1. Physical contact in physical education : New perspectives and future directions

    Author : Annica Caldeborg; Marie Öhman; Joacim Andersson; Ninitha Maivorsdotter; Jesper Andreasson; Örebro universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Physical contact; physical education; PE; touch; student perspective; heteronormativity; gender; immigrant students; scoping review;

    Abstract : This thesis takes its point of departure in the research field of intergenerational touch in educational settings. Specifically, it is mainly the student perspective of physical contact between teachers and students in physical education (PE) that is of interest. In addition, a scoping review has also been conducted. READ MORE

  2. 2. Tunable and modular assembly of polypeptides and polypeptide-hybrid biomaterials

    Author : Christopher Aronsson; Daniel Aili; Karin Enander; Staffan Dånmark; Dennis Löwik; Linköpings universitet; []

    Abstract : Biomaterials are materials that are specifically designed to be in contact with biological systems and have for a long time been used in medicine. Examples of biomaterials range from sophisticated prostheses used for replacing outworn body parts to ordinary contact lenses. Currently it is possible to create biomaterials that can e.g. READ MORE

  3. 3. The Physical Foundation of the Patterning of Physical Action Verbs : A Study of Chinese Verbs

    Author : Hong Gao; Allmän språkvetenskap; []
    Keywords : HUMANIORA; HUMANITIES; HUMANIORA; HUMANITIES; Languages and literatures of South and South-East Asia; verbal semantics; trajector; semantic representation; pyscholingistics; polysemy; physical reality; physical foundation; physical action verbs; observability; motion; lexicalization patterning; landmark; intentionality; innateness; physical contact; force-dynamics; combinability; conflation; cognitive semantics; active zone; affectability; Chinese; Kinesiska och språk och litteratur från Syd- och Sydostasien; Linguistics; Lingvistik; Grammar; semantics; semiotics; syntax; Grammatik; semantik; semiotik;

    Abstract : This work is a study of verbal semantics with a focus on the discussion and illustration of the role of body parts and the semantic incorporation into verbal roots of the actions that involve various body parts. Following a general discussion of the basic issues of language construction and human body actions with the image schemas of force-dynamics presented in line with the framework of cognitive semantics, it is argued that the event structures of physical action verbs are not arbitrarily constructed but rather the constructions are built through systematic cognitive processes in relation to both human physical reality and concrete reality in the world. 4. 4. Magnetization Dynamics in Nano-Contact Spin Torque Oscillators : Solitonic bullets and propagating spin waves

    Author : Stefano Bonetti; Johan Åkerman; Thomas Silva; KTH; []
    Keywords : NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; magnetism; spintronics; thin magnetic films; spin transfer torque; magnetization dynamics; spin waves; microwave oscillators; giant magneto-resistance; Magnetism; Magnetism;

    Abstract : Magnetization dynamics in nano-contact spin torque oscillators (STOs) is investigated from an experimental and theoretical point of view. The fundamentals of magnetization dynamics due to spin transfer torque are given. A custom-made high frequency (up to 46 GHz) in large magnetic fields (up to 2. READ MORE

  5. 5. Dynamic Wetting of Solid Surfaces, Influence of Surface Structures and Surface Active Polymers

    Author : Stina Gerdes; Fysikalisk kemi; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Physical chemistry; stick-slip; Wilhelmy plate; block copolymers; surface active polymers; surface channels; spreading; contact angles; dynamic wetting; surface structures; Fysikalisk kemi;

    Abstract : The effect of surface structures on the dynamics of wetting was investigated through measurements of the dynamic contact angle and spreading velocity of oil droplets spreading over surfaces with parallel and gridlike V-shaped channels. A rim of liquid was observed to spread out in the channels ahead of the dropfront after a short time of spreading (seconds). READ MORE
