  1. 1. Human-Robot Interaction for Semi-Autonomous Assistive Robots : Empirical Studies and an Interaction Concept for Supporting Elderly People at Home

    Author : Marcus Mast; Arne Jönsson; Michael Burmester; Jonas Lundberg; Tony Belpaeme; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Semi-autonomous assistive robots; human-robot interaction; user interface design; teleoperation; telemanipulation; elderly people; global environment maps; stereoscopy; Semi-autonoma robotar; människa-robotinteraktion; gränssnittsdesign; distansstyrning; distansmanipulation; äldre; globala omgivningskartor; stereoskopisk;

    Abstract : The research addresses current shortcomings of autonomous service robots operating in domestic environments by considering the concept of a semi-autonomous robot that would be supported by human remote operators whenever the robot cannot handle a task autonomously. The main research objective was to investigate how to design the human-robot interaction for a robotic system to assist elderly people with physical tasks at home according to this conceptual idea. 2. 2. Embodied Core Mechanics : Designing for movement-based co-located play

    Author : Elena Márquez Segura; Annika Waern; Kristina Höök; Barry Brown; Helena Mentis; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Embodied core mechanics; embodied sketching; movement-based interaction; phenomenology; embodied interaction; play; play design; research through design; social play; co-located; movement; technology-supported; interactive toy; robot; playification; Människa-dator interaktion; Human-Computer Interaction;

    Abstract : Movement-based interactive systems for play came into the spotlight over a decade ago, and were met with enthusiasm by the general public as well as the Human-Computer Interaction research community. Yet a decade of research and practice has not fully addressed the challenge of designing for the moving body and play. READ MORE

  3. 3. Bringing the avatar to life : Studies and developments in facial communication for virtual agents and robots

    Author : Samer Al Moubayed; Jonas Beskow; Stefan Kopp; KTH; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Avatar; Speech Communication; Facial animation; Nonverbal; Social; Robot; Human-like; Face-to-face; Prosody; Pitch; Prominence; Furhat; Gaze; Head-pose; Dialogue; Interaction; Multimodal; Multiparty; SRA - ICT; SRA - Informations- och kommunikationsteknik;

    Abstract : The work presented in this thesis comes in pursuit of the ultimate goal of building spoken and embodied human-like interfaces that are able to interact with humans under human terms. Such interfaces need to employ the subtle, rich and multidimensional signals of communicative and social value that complement the stream of words – signals humans typically use when interacting with each other. 4. 4. Being connected to the world through a robot

    Author : Patrik Björnfot; Victor Kaptelinin; Karin Danielsson; Rikard Harr; Mattias Arvola; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; Human-Computer Interaction; Interaction Design; Robotic Telepresence; Mobile Robotic Presence; Activity Theory; Phenomenology; Embodiment; human-computer interaction; människa-datorinteraktion;

    Abstract : Robotic telepresence systems enable humans to be present physically and socially in a distant environment. Robotic telepresence technology is the latest in the line of communication technology development. The unique feature of such technology is that its users can act in a distant environment and interact with other people through these systems. READ MORE

  5. 5. The Useworthiness of Robots for People with Physical Disabilities

    Author : Håkan Eftring; Certec - Rehabiliteringsteknik och Design; []
