  1. 1. Oxygen content in semi-closed rebreathing apparatuses for underwater use : Measurements and modeling

    Author : Oskar Frånberg; Ola Eiken; Mikael Gennser; Lars-Åke Brodin; John Clarke; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Diving; rebreather; underwater breathing apparatus; unmanned testing; hyperbaric; metabolic simulator; scuba; semi-closed; Medicinsk teknologi; Medical Technology;

    Abstract : The present series of unmanned hyperbaric tests were conducted in order to investigate the oxygen fraction variability in semi-closed underwater rebreathing apparatuses. The tested rebreathers were RB80 (Halcyon dive systems, High springs, FL, USA), IS-Mix (Interspiro AB, Stockholm, Sweden), CRABE (Aqua Lung, Carros Cedex, France), and Viper+ (Cobham plc, Davenport, IA, USA). 2. 2. Model Based Enhancement of Bioimpedance Spectroscopy Analysis : Towards Textile Enabled Applications

    Author : Rubén Buendía López; Kaj Lindecrantz; Javier Rosell-Ferrer; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Physiological measurements; Bioimpedance; modelling; textiles;

    Abstract : Several signal processing approaches have been developed to overcome the effect of stray capacitances in Electrical Bioimpedance Spectroscopy (EBIS) measurements. EBIS measurements obtained with textile-enabled instrumentation are more vulnerable to stray capacitances. READ MORE

  3. 3. In Vivo Diffuse Reflectance Spectroscopy of Human Tissue : From Point Measurements to Imaging

    Author : Erik Häggblad; Göran Salerud; Tomas Strömberg; Maurice C. G. Maurice C. G. Aalders; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Medical engineering; Medicinsk teknik;

    Abstract : This thesis presents the non-invasive use of diffuse reflectance spectroscopy (DRS) to provide information about the biochemical composition of living tissue. During DRS measurements, the incident, visible light is partially absorbed by chromophores but also scattered in the tissue before being remitted. READ MORE

  4. 4. Aortic coarctation : Physiological and model studies

    Author : Jan Engvall; Dag Teien; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICINE; MEDICIN;

    Abstract : In 22 patients, referred for the assessment of significant native- or re-coarctation, the systolic cuff blood pressure difference between arm and ankle at rest and after three different subrnaximal exercise tests and one maximal test was compared with invasive blood pressure. Reference values of cuff blood pressure were obtained from 19 healthy adult volunteers. READ MORE

  5. 5. Orthopaedic measurements with computed radiography. Methodological development, accuracy, and radiation dose with special reference to the weight-bearing lower extremity and the dislocating patella

    Author : Jan Sanfridsson; Lund Ortopedi; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Clinical physics; digital.; computer-assisted; Picture Archiving and Communication Systems; computed radiography; radiography; effective dose; radiation dosage; measurements; biomechanics; dislocating patella; musculoskeletal; patellofemoral joint; Knee joint; radiology; tomography; medical instrumentation; Klinisk fysiologi; radiologi; tomografi; medicinsk instrumentering;

    Abstract : The overall aim of this study was to develop and evaluate a measurement system for computed radiography (CR) and Picture Archiving and Communication Systems (PACS), permitting measurements of long distances and angles in and between related images. The developed measurement system, which was based on the QUESTOR Precision Radiography (QPR) system, was applied to the weight-bearing knee with special reference to the dislocating patella. READ MORE
