  1. 1. Genetic diversity and differentiation in natural and managed stands of Norway spruce (Picea abies)

    Author : Helena Eklöf; Pär K. Ingvarsson; Xiao-Ru Wang; Carolina Bernhardsson; Katri Kärkkäinen; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Norway spruce; Picea abies; forestry; genetic diversity; seed orchards; forest management; WGS; GBS; sequencing; PoolSeq; capture probes; genetic differentiation;

    Abstract : Being one of Sweden’s most important tree species, both as a keystone species and for the forest industry, it is important that we keep our stands of Norway spruce (Picea abies (L.) Karst.) as healthy as possible. READ MORE

    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; transcriptome reconstruction; transcriptome assembly; transcript isoform detection; Picea abies; acrocona; cone setting; differential expression; gene families; miRNA; quality assessment; transkriptomrekonstruktion; sammansättning av transkriptom; detektering av transkriptisoform; rödgran; kottegran; kottsättning; differentiellt uttryck; genfamiljer; kvalitetsutvärdering; miRNA; Biotechnology; Bioteknologi;

    Abstract : Transcriptome reconstruction is an important component in the bioinformatical part of transcriptome studies. When a reference genome is missing, highly fragmented or incomplete, a de novo transcriptome assembly is the transcriptome reconstruction approach of choice, since in such situations, a simple alignment (or mapping) would not necessarily give all theinformation concerning splice junctions, isoforms or even the full extent of the gene. 3. 3. Analysis of Two Transcriptional Regulators that Affect Meristem Function : Arabidopsis thaliana TERMINAL FLOWER2 and Picea abies APETELA2

    Author : Lars Nilsson; Annika Sundås Larsson; Peter Engström; Thomas Laux; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : Developmental biology; Arabidopsis thaliana; Picea abies; gene regulation; development; meristem; Utvecklingsbiologi;

    Abstract : The aerial plant body is derived from undifferentiated cells in the shoot apical meristem that in Arabidopsis thaliana is active throughout the plant life cycle. Upon transition to flowering the activity of the meristem is altered and the meristem starts to produce secondary inflorescences and floral meristems instead of leaves. READ MORE

  4. 4. Methods for transcriptome reconstruction, with an application in Picea abies (L.) H. Karst

    Author : Karl Johan Westrin; Olof Emanuelsson; Björn Nystedt; KTH; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; acrocona; cone setting; transcript isoform detection; miRNA; Picea abies; quality assessment; transcriptome assembly; Bioteknologi; Biotechnology;

    Abstract : Transcriptome reconstruction is an important component in the bioinformatical part of transcriptome studies. It is particulary interesting when a reference genome is missing, highly fragmented or incomplete, since in such situations, a simple alignment (or mapping) would not necessarily tell the full story.
