  1. 21. Microstructure and wear mechanisms of textured CVD alumina and titanium carbonitride coatings

    Author : Siamak Shoja; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Plastic deformation; Texture; TKD; Electron microscopy; Coatings; CVD; TiCN; α-alumina; Wear mechanisms;

    Abstract : The aim of this thesis is to find the reasons behind how the wear performance of hard coatings produced by chemical vapor deposition (CVD) is influenced by their texture, as this is today not fully known. Therefore, differently textured coatings were synthesized, and subsequently analyzed both before and after specially designed machining tests. READ MORE

  2. 22. Mechanistic-Empirical Modeling of Permanent Deformation in Asphalt Concrete Layers

    Author : Erik Oscarsson; Trafik och väg; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; permanent deformation; modeling; Mechanistic-Empirical; rutting; asphalt concrete; full-scale pavements;

    Abstract : Three mechanistic-empirical permanent deformation models were evaluated under Swedish conditions with respect to traffic, climate and materials using accelerated pavement testing and long-term pavement performance studies. The mechanistic-empirical pavement design guide (M E PDG), the incremental-recursive mechanistic-empirical CalME model (CalME), and the PErmanent Deformation of asphalt concrete layer for ROads (PEDRO) model generally showed both useful features and limitations. 3. 23. Impact wave process modeling and optimization in high energy rate explosive welding

    Author : Mohammad Tabatabaee Ghomi; Jafar Mahmoudi; Nils Erik Hannerz; Mälardalens högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Explosive welding; Impact; Wave; Deformation; Velocity; Engineering mechanics; Teknisk mekanik; Energy- and Environmental Engineering; energi- och miljöteknik;

    Abstract : Impact waves are used in many different industries and are classified according to whether they cause plastic or elastic deformations. In the plastic deformation mode, these waves can be used to produce special electrical joints. In the elastic deformation mode, they can be used to detect leakage or to measure the thickness of pipes. READ MORE

  4. 24. Deformation mechanisms and load distribution in multi-phase engineering materials

    Author : Nitesh Raj Jaladurgam; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Deformation mechanisms; Electron microscopy; Eutectic high entropy alloys; Load distribution; Superalloys; In-situ neutron diffraction;

    Abstract : While the transition to carbon neutral technologies is still in progress, it is vital to reduce the environmental impact of existing processes. The efficiency of combustion processes for e.g. power generation and aviation can be greatly improved by increasing the operating temperature. READ MORE

  5. 25. Evolution of WC-Co cemented carbide microstructure during creep testing

    Author : Mohamed Amine Yousfi; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; plastic deformation; cemented carbides; linear intercept; transmission electron microscopy.; electron backscattered diffraction; Atom probe tomography;

    Abstract : The aim of this work is to understand the mechanisms behind the plastic deformation of WC-Co based cemented carbides. The microstructures of two materials have been investigated before and after creep deformation using quantitative microscopy, atom probe tomography, and transmission electron microscopy. READ MORE
