    Abstract : The aim the thesis work was to study the human cystatins C, E/M, F, G, H and I both in vivo and in vitro. A mouse devoid of cystatin C was used for the cystatin C studies.     Abstract : Malignant pleural mesothelioma (MPM), the primary malignant tumour of the pleural cavity, is an uncommon and treatment resistant tumour. The prognosis is poor.
