  1. 1. A Systems Tool for Prescriptive Policy Analysis : Labelled Causal Mapping Method for Policy-oriented Modelling, Simulation and Decision analysis

    Author : Osama Ibrahim; Aron Larsson; David Sundgren; Maja Schlüter; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Public Policy; Systems analysis; Causal mapping; Policy modelling and simulation; Policy evaluation; Computer and Systems Sciences; data- och systemvetenskap;

    Abstract : The elicitation and processing of relevant information is the core of any policy decision-making process. Modelling is about making sense of the available information. Models are able to incorporate the contextual influences on policy making (e.g. READ MORE

  2. 2. Composing Policy Interventions for Antibiotic Development

    Author : Christopher Okhravi; Steve McKeever; Francesco Ciabuschi; Enrico Baraldi; Jonathan Michie; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; evidence-based policy; simulation; antibiotics; ontology; composition; alignment; docking; contracts; REA; research and development; design science research; domain-specific language; Information Systems; Informationssystem;

    Abstract : Antibiotic resistance is eroding the efficacy of the drugs we have and, unless future science dictates otherwise, bacteria will eventually become resistant to whatever new antibiotics we discover. We must therefore plan for a continuous stream of innovation. Unfortunately, pharmaceutical firms have left the scene to pursue more profitable areas. READ MORE

  3. 3. Transport policy analysis using multi-agent-based simulation

    Author : Linda Ramstedt; Blekinge Tekniska Högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Transportation; Transport chain; Multi-agent-based simulation; Transport policy; Logistics; Decisions;

    Abstract : This thesis explores how multi-agent-based simulation can be used for transport policy analysis. Transport policies are often used as a means to reach governmental goals, such as environmental targets to reduce the impact of transportation. READ MORE

  4. 4. Daylight compliance of multi-dwelling apartment blocks : Design considerations, evaluation criteria and occupant responses

    Author : Iason Bournas; Institutionen för arkitektur och byggd miljö; []
    Keywords : HUMANIORA; HUMANITIES; daylight; electric lighting; policy; regulation compliance; simulation; questionnaire; daylight metrics; perception; brightness; user preferences; urban density; block typology; room geometry; room function; room orientation;

    Abstract : This thesis examines the daylight compliance of residential spaces, in particular apartments in multi-dwelling building blocks, and provides knowledge that may prove useful for the development of future daylight criteria for dwellings. The implications of design choices on daylight compliance of spaces and the effect of daylight criteria on the level of compliance are at the core of this work. READ MORE

  5. 5. Design and Investigation of a Decision Support System for Public Policy Formulation

    Author : Osama Ibrahim; Aron Larsson; David Sundgren; Els van Daalen; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; Systems Thinking; Prescriptive Policy Analysis; Policy modelling and Simulation; ICT for governane; Sense4us; Policy Impact Assessment; Scenario Planning; Knowledge synthesis; Computer and Systems Sciences; data- och systemvetenskap;

    Abstract : The ultimate aim of support for public policy decision making is to develop ways of facilitating policymaking that can create policies that are consistent with the preferences of policymakers and stakeholders (such as an increase in economic growth, the reduction of social inequalities, and improvements to the environment), and that are at the same time based on the available knowledge and evidential information.Using the design science research methodology, an iterative design process was followed to build and evaluate a research artefact in the form of an analytical method that is also operationalised as a decision support system (DSS) – in order to facilitate the problem analysis, the impact assessment and the decision evaluation activities carried out at the policy formulation stage of the policymaking process.
