  1. 26. Engineering ferroelectric domains and charge transport by proton exchange in lithium niobate

    Author : Michele Manzo; Katia Gallo; Marin Alexe; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Lithium niobate; Ferroelectrics; Teknisk materialvetenskap; Materials Science and Engineering; Fysik; Physics;

    Abstract : Ferroelectrics are dielectric materials possessing a switchable spontaneous polarization, which have attracted a growing interest for a broad variety of applications such as ferroelectric lithography, artificial photosynthesis, random and dynamic access memories (FeRAMs and DRAM), but also for the fabrication of devices for nonlinear optics, etc. All the aforementioned applications rely on the control of the ferroelectric domains arrangement, or the charge distribution and transport. 2. 27. Manufacturing and Characterisation of Conductive and Piezoelectric Textile Fibres

    Author : Erik Nilsson; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; electrical conductivity; polyethylene; polypropylene; Graphite nanoplatelets; smart textiles.; melt spinning; piezoelectric fibres; rheology; conductive fibres; carbon black; graphene; PVDF;

    Abstract : This thesis explores the manufacturing and characterisation of melt spun electrically conductive polymer nanocomposites and piezoelectric textile fibres. Potential applications of these fibres are for example textiles with heating and sensor capabilities. READ MORE

  3. 28. Technology for photonic components in silica/silicon material structure

    Author : Lech Wosinski; KTH; []
    Keywords : silica-on-silicon technology; PECVD; plasma deposition; photonic integrated circuits; planar waveguide devices; UV Bragg gratings; photosensitivity; arrayed waveguide gratings; multimode interference couplers; add-drop multiplexers;

    Abstract : The main objectives of this thesis were to develop a lowtemperature PECVD process suitable for optoelectronicintegration, and to optimize silica glass composition forUV-induced modifications of a refractive index in PECVDfabricated planar devices. The most important achievement isthe successful development of a low temperature silicadeposition, which for the first time makes it is possible tofabricate good quality low loss integrated components whilekeeping the temperature below 250oC during the entirefabrication process.
