6. Thermally cured coil-coatings utilizing novel resins and fatty acid methyl esters as reactive diluents
Abstract : Solvent-borne thermally cured coil-coating resins contain large amounts of volatile organic solvents in order to obtain suitable flow for film application. This work describes how the expensive and environmental hazardous volatile organic solvent content of a solvent-borne thermally cured polyester/melamine coil-coating system can be reduced by introduction of fatty acid methyl esters (FAMEs) as reactive diluents and modification of the polyester binder resin. 7. SALDI-MS Method Development for Analysis of Pharmaceuticals and Polymer Degradation Products
Abstract : Surface assisted laser desorption ionization-mass spectrometry (SALDI-MS) was evaluated as a new tool for analysis of polymer degradation products. A SALDI method was developed enabling rapid analysis of low molecular mass polyesters and their degradation products. READ MORE

8. Environmentally Friendly Plasticizers for PVC : Improved Material Properties and Long-term Performance Through Plasticizer Design
Abstract : Linear and branched poly(butylene adipate) polyesters with number-average molecular weights ranging from 700 to 10 000 g/mol, and degrees of branching ranging from very low to hyperbranched were solution cast with PVC to study the effects of chemical structure, molecular weight, end-group functionality, and chain architecture on plasticizing efficiency and durability. Miscibility was evaluated by the existence of a single glass transition temperature and a shift of the carbonyl group absorption band. READ MORE

9. Fatty acid methyl esters as reactive diluents in solvent-borne thermally cured coil-coatings
Abstract : This work describes how a fatty acid methyl ester (FAME) derived from a vegetable oil can be introduced as reactive diluent in a solvent-borne thermally cured coil-coating system. The evaluated reactive diluent, rape seed methyl ester (RME), has been evaluated both in a fully formulated clear coat system and via model studies. READ MORE

10. Exploring the Use of Terpenes as Renewable Polymer Feedstock
Abstract : Rising environmental awareness and responsibility has increased the demand for novel, bio-based sustainable materials. Therefore, there is an extensive need to research and develop closed-loop materials from novel feedstocks that can be generated using benign, environmentally friendly synthetic routes. READ MORE
